Why do you guys dislike Retail WoW?

Isn’t this what they did in SoM? And don’t we do the same content over and over on classic as well?

yeah but SoM didn’t try to sell it like you’re some amazing player for defeating the MyThIcAL LeVeL 5000

without RMT gdkps are better.

We would rely on people with lots of free time that want items faster, it would be better because they wouldn’t be cheating.

But taking away the best farm from good players just so gold sellers can have more customers is not good for community.

But I play on Era, we defeated the botters and players that actually play the game are in control of the bulk of gold. So i don’t really care what they do with the big classic fomo zug community

GDKPs got villainized because of the RMT sadly. Honestly, I’m against GDKP while RMT is a massive problem but if Blizzard would actually care about the game and hunt it down relentlessly, I’m sure GDKP’s reputation would be A LOT better. But the ban of GDKP didn’t end swiping, it just means now the people who farmed the swipers for gold are swipers themselves now.

It got villainized because almost all customers of gold-sellers stopped buying buying gold and only whales were still buying.

But gdkp-hosts could make gold for lower operational cost than bot-running-gold-sellers and they realized that their market was being destroyed.

So the bot-running-gold-sellers started the anti-gdkp movement on reddit which is super easy to manipulate since they can downvote any disagreement and the majority of the community will just follow along.

Now with the ban they have probably over 50,000 players that will buy about $20 worth of gold per month. That’s a million - $1,000,000 / month - that they secured by getting GDKPs banned. It isn’t massive in the big scheme but for 3rd party bot-runners it makes a ton of sense to organize around this and keep GDKPs banned.

You can see their people on the forums they will railroad conversations and such it is pretty fun to troll them.

Yeaaah, see? none of that sounds heroic

In 3rd world countries that type of money is literally fortune 500 level in their countries.

Well it is split between lots of groups but basically everyone in the gold selling world is anti-gdkp because the gdkp-hosts basically end up the richest and so do the raiders, while the bots make almost no gold.

A raider can make more gold in 1 naxx than a bot could make in a year.

Maybe i exaggerate but when payouts are 10,000-20,000 gold it is really hard for bots to make that when a lot of their income comes from creating raw gold by vendoring grays.

It does require the bots to inflate the economy beforehand which takes a while but swipers feed it and speed it up. And when a new version of classic drops because they’ve been riding the classic train since 2019 and they prob won’t stop cause it’s cheaper to take the skyrim route and re release the same game over and over to keep making money. And every time they do it, more people come back, and more bots roll in and all of those are subscriptions and why would Blizzard get rid of more subscription money? Even when it’s third world sub money which is around 1 dollar that’s still 1 more dollar to add to the profits.

Yeah imagine having to actually do stuff to kill raid bosses.,

You’re fighting supposed old gods and they literally do nothing but stand still :rofl::rofl::rofl:

No, they sell it that you’re amazing for stacking warriors, mages, and rogues.

I’m not sure dancing around floor fires is much more RP.

In vanilla the pve skill is perfecting rotation and finding little edge for 100 parse, or group speed.

Walking the edge of max dps and not pulling (or surviving if they do), full unbooned entire run including trash - is the vanilla chad warrior.

You’ll be raiding fire soon and can really turn up :fire: :fire: :fire:

The “new” models and animations suck. Every race uses the exact same animations for attacks across each class. No more gnome spins, no more undead flips. Same lifeless animations for everything. And that’s before everything else.

I mean its much more than dancing around floor fires lol.

Era is so brain dead you have to add rules and competition to it to not be bored.

Can’t say I agree with this. I really don’t like the design of the modern WoW zones. Vanilla looks like an actual world. Retail looks like questing zones. Every square inch in Retail is crammed with something. That’s not realistic. Real worlds have large, open spaces as well as compact areas. Vanilla nails this. It just feels more…real.

If I had to guess from a design perspective I’d say that in Vanilla they made the zones first, and then filled them with quests. Whereas now the quests are designed first and the world built to accommodate them.

Though to be fair I can’t speak to the last few expansions since I haven’t played them.

It was only the best farm because of rmt. Anyone that wants to get ahead will buy gold, especially if they could buy bis drops off bosses.

As you can see by nightslayer and the amount of gold buying going on there without the opportunity to buy items in gdkps, people will buy to get ahead.

Giving those players a direct avenue to get ahead with gdkps will always lead to gold buying.

So people that are buying consumes and pre bis gear are spending $20 a month

How much are the people that are paying 100k for gressils buying a month? Say $100. Would only require 10000 people buying gold to equal the same amount.

The only avenues for gold buying at the moment are boosting, pre bis and consumes. You give another avenue where people can get ahead, you get more buyers.

So if you think it’s bad now, we are lucky gdkps aren’t a thing.
