Why do we need to pay 2 sub fees for US and EU?

WoW should be free.

It isn’t.

You can buy stuff with gold, which is basically free.

A dev team of 2 people figured it out for Phasmophobia

They could easily remove the region restrictions but would take a bit more than a few more lines of code. Maybe something they working towards in 11.0 like they did with factions

By the way, nobody is talking about transferring characters, achievements, goods or anything.

Its just that your battle net account subscription allows you to log in to EU servers. You can have your character list empty, and start fresh, that’s fine.

I can use this very same account to pay for another sub in EU, which means it is completely possible for them to just recognize that I am paying a sub in US and allow my account to log in to EU Servers

That’s exactly how it should work. It’s not hard.

“Oh this guy has an active sub in the US?” gives free access to EU

Easy.

like everyone here seems to ignore that your US subscription lets you log in to Oceania.

Not to mention South America

International trade laws with the EU.

If I had to venture a guess:

Money.

But also, the NA TOS likely doesn’t encompass nearly enough of what the EU TOS requires due to privacy laws etc.

What are those rules? Almost every post here seems to suggest that both regions are totally different in how subs are handled and how things are coded, but I’ve seen no explanation or real example so far.

“Why are those accounts separate?” - “Because they’re separate and in different regions” well duh.

Quite true, yeah. Same with LoL. Even back then in the earlier days it was no problem transferring the account to another region despite having a large cash shop.
