Yeah you’re right, it’s impossible for people to enjoy things differently than you do. Your opinion is the only one that matters and the only one that is correct, how could I not have realized this sooner?
It’s the dumbest most spiteful thing in the game world. That “skipping content” argument is also so weak. We still skip it, barding on my mounts, run though everything between here and my target, run past the target to drop the train. Murder target, and run through everything the get back, ignoring all of it. Engaging…
Should only be about 5-10k gold. Don’t @ me with bC fLyInG wAs SuPeR eXpEnSiVe
Flight license in wrath, cata, and MoP barely cost the amount of gold you made passively going from previous cap to that expansion’s current cap.
So how many times can they rehash the same simple explanations, (and somehow have a rando npc tell you how to navigate without actually training you) before it’s annoying? How many weather conditions that can prevent flying but not ground?
Imo we don’t need a lore reason.
I don’t believe they’ve ever removed flying from an area so after it is learned it never has to be relearned.
Cold weather, old weather, misty weather, alternate universe weather, another set of islands weather, dead weather… im sure i missed a couple.
That’s all just words though. Nonsensical reasons to prevent flying. I’d rather have gameplay reasons.
So would i. But i dont expect it.
I can understand that some people think you can appreciate the content at ground level, but what I can’t wrap my head around is why can’t other people understand that I prefer a bird’s eye view, I enjoy exploring from the sky, landing where I want to, and then exploring on foot if I see fit? And even if me flying means I’m “skipping” content… what does that have to do with YOU?
I’d love to know the percentage of players who use barding. I bet it’s +80%. Yay, engaging world design.
If they actually put in dialogue and lore as to why we couldn’t fly in new zones it would actually piss me off even more. To not only time gate flying but then actually put effort into the game to convince us why it makes sense. That’d just be wild
Yeah and the other 20% that don’t use it just aren’t aware that it exists or else they would be.
Most of us know the real reason.
Money, money money. Give me those MAU’s!
Next earnings call Feb. 3. Should be fun.
I had to switch to it from the parachute mount gear. I didnt WANT to, i was forced to by korthia mobs that dismount you with a single hit.
The annoying part is the restriction. The lore explanation shows that at least they’re willing to put three seconds of effort into thinking one up if they’re going to slap an arbitrary restriction on people. The fact that they don’t even bother putting the most minor of efforts in with something so trivial to the players that it does matter to is the part that’s ridiculous.
I imagine that there are people that it doesn’t matter to, and that’s perfectly fine. What’s your objection to a lore explanation existing if it doesn’t matter to you?
But they have done it before, in MoP.
Also, if I recall, to get the ability to fly in Wrath, you had to get “cold weather flying license” or something.
My main gripe is the time gating. It takes away freedom of choice, even if only temporarily.
They don’t like seeing me sitting on a tree limb RPing a bird on my Druid.
But what else do people roll druids for?
MAU is monthly active users. You can get on one evening a week to do your raid, that doesn’t care about flying and still count on MAU.
To stealth through all the content when I can’t fly.
Yep, so if you play many more months doing grinds that makes MAU’s go up.
