Why do they NOT want us to see healing taken (received)?

Title. Anyone have a logical reason as to why it’s bad/wrong for us to be able to see healing taken?

Saying they do not want us to see something implies that they put conscious thought into the subject. I believe that is vastly overestimating how important retail player experience is to the WoW dev team.

It’s actually saddening for me to see how engaged they are on the stupid recycled forever nonsense. Just points out that they could be engaged, they just don’t give a #@*$ about retail.

Im guess its something they removed like details spell usage cuz a majority of the player base was pointing out bad players which isnt a terrible thing just makes people required to play better.

They took out targets breakdown so you cant go thru any meter and be like “why are u padding on pets” or “you didnt press bubble the entire game and u died 7 times”. Lots of call outs are good for the game cuz generally they point out something someone is doing wrong and they can fix it if they ACTUALLY dont know. Blizzard doesnt seem to like that anymore and doesnt want people to feel like they are making mistakes so it becomes a even worse thing cuz now since NO ONE can use it to get better or see what they are doing wrong.

The details shenanigans has really curbed the responsibility from the players. Soon we are gonna turn into Final Fantasy and ban people for linking someones poor DPS.

Dumbing down the details is like the first time Blizzard has REALLY decided to protect the playerbase to their own demise cuz people who have abilities they can use and dont or get one shot have no idea to look up whats happening.

This expansion alone ive had people scream cheater just cause I used touch of death and they have no idea what it is cuz again, they cant look into it in details.

Yeah, I hear that. Lately I’ve been wanting to see more details (hah) on things, and I just can’t anymore. :expressionless:

I hate all the add-on restrictions, blizz have made a huge mess of it.

I am going to say it is to stop that metric from being used as a kill target metric.

In RBG’s we used to just get in discord and call the kill target (still do), in blitz it is a sheet show and I don’t think they want addons (or metrics on a dmg meter) being able to passively call kill targets.

All you need for Blitz is BGEf and you’re fine.

linking meters is now considered toxic play, some mmos have even banned them outright. i just have to wonder, why are we making a world where its okay for people to be toxicly bad, but not okay for earnest people to call them out over it. i have to assume the people in charge of blizz now are all the ones from your group project that did nothing but took all the credit.

I miss seeing this stuff because you can point out a healer, that doesn’t heal the team. I see it all the time in reg bgs and ebgs, healers topping charts, but never healed the team, just themselves. I get it, we need FC’s and stuff like that but being able to see all the data was nice, what we got now is … basic.

It shouldnt be, its exposing the frauds and players that dont carry their weight. No one is perfect, trust me Im a scrub, but we can all improve ourselves by knowing WHY we didnt do well. Blizz made a big mistake taking away addons and being able to “see” stuff.

We got blizzard intervention into separating the weak from accountability.
I had some absolute dingus BoP as im capping the flag on a Gilneas stopping the cap and they were able to keep us from getting it. 1 ret 1 hpally and both of them refused to admit who it. Blizzard should not protect these people.

100% agree.

Sounds about right. Blizzard puts useless things like the social contract in place (because words hurt, I guess) while continuing to make game design changes that make it easier than ever for tools to jam up other players.

Not being a jerk isnt hard to follow. We are talking about actual hand holding by eliminating accountability. The Social contract is a accountability deal, dont be a pointless jerk an act like an adult = you wont be banned.

The gameplay criticism fits into the social contract and Blizz is fine with people being kick/shamed but they def dont want it to happen to new players, and it shouldnt to an extent.

Jeremy who is a elitist jerk in a random BG having never touched rated shouldnt be allowed to call anyone out since hes in the same skill bracket as new players.

Reasonable Accountability is the only thing that should matter to make players better

There will always be jerks and they don’t care about the social contract. They don’t need to because Blizzard hands them the ability to be jerks without saying a word. That effect can never be eliminated entirely but, sometimes, I’d swear Blizzard designed today’s game to make players annoy each other to death. It did not used to be this way.

Jerk can be perspective. I like doing the FFA area in voidstorm and ive seen people lose it because ill chase them just for the quest. Its PvP someones gotta lose

That’s not what I am talking about. I am talking about ways the game works that encourage sh–ing all over other players. The ever-present complaints about premades and the matching system in randoms would be one of many examples. If a new player is stacked up against a premade and gets to enjoy being the subject of a GY camp, what then?

Personally, I don’t understand the obsession with what people say. Just don’t care. Consequences to that don’t make the game any better than putting someone on ignore does. Please add healing taken to the meters and, if someone gets called out, I’m totally fine with that. If someone is rude about it, well, guess what? That’s life. Protecting players from that is really doing them no favors. Need to fix the culture and a video game won’t do that, so might as well help them grow a thicker skin.

My point is that any mental energy they spent on deciding to not include healing added because someone’s feeling where going to be hurt, for example, should have been put into more substantive improvements that stop known opportunities for malicious play.

For every player that gets held accountable for being a jerk, several others walk away without consequences. Losing battle. How about taking away the ability for them to do things like the aforementioned example of getting a group together and graveyard camping a random BG instead?

All I’m saying.
