So, I’m a terrible player. But I want to be better, because nobody really wants to be a terrible player.
Self examination results in two possibilities: skill issues or equipment issues.
Who really wants to admit it is purely a skill issue? Until you have equipment that leaves no doubt that it is a skill issue - there is always another item that might be the missing piece of the puzzle.
This player probably doesn’t think that. They likely genuinely believe it will make a difference.
What makes a player terrible? Is it reaction time? A lack of care or effort or knowledge of talents, skills, keybinds?
Is it an inability to function within the game world? Is it the idea that others should prioritize the same things?
Is a high parser a better player because parsing is one objective measure? Is a low parser with the same game completion and access a better player because they have achieved as much with less effort?
Is more game time more fun or less fun?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty sure I know what you mean when you say “a terrible player,” just not to the extent that I would write a detailed description and replicate it in code.
I suppose this is analogous to life. Why do people who work so much need such large living quarters that we hardly use? Couldn’t people who actually spend all their time at home benefit much more from more square feet?
A dps who does horrible dps wanting an item that isn’t going to make him do better dps because his rotation, timing, and the fact he barely raids and pugs isn’t going to change anything.
I just don’t get it.
Someone who has ran Kara once 3 weeks ago who does healer dps wanting to HR an item that won’t change anything for him.
I find that hard to believe. You just want to get it for yourself and are doing some mental gymnastics to allow yourself to believe that you deserve it more than others on some ethical or moral level.
I actually raid every week and it’s actually going to help me.
What is the item going to do for someone with a 28 average parse exactly? I just can’t find any logic in them even wanting it in the first place. Not to mention they get carried in the dungeon they have the item HR’d in too. So they are HRing an item and getting carried, taking the item to not even raid with it.
trust me, you don’t want to play a wow version where almost everyone knows how to play. Noobs are important to the economy and keep the game alive. Look at mop, in ToT you can play your class perfectly, have a decent comp and still parse below purple because many ppl can cheese better than u.
the reason bad players want it is because they have zero chance of joining raids. Imagine being noob + no gear.
So then they will be a noob with gear and still do horrible dps.
They got carried in groups to get the gear but they forgot that gear doesn’t do anything for them.
The funny part is these people don’t gem, enchant, or bring consumables. So they want these items yet they clearly don’t actually care to put any effort into their character.
I mean jesus there was a Hunter here who vendored his entire Beastlord set. You know he’s out there HRing items right now.
Because even bad players want to feel powerful imo. It’s why having different difficulties of dungeons giving out different powers of loot is so hated. Classic players have thing about being second “best”.
best advice is filtering them out of your raids. Let them do w/e they want with their time. I have my own pug discord that requires gear check before inviting. Only 1 tier piece/mageblade or any offpiece HR, and DST is open. Guess what I manage to pull purple/orange ppl every week lol.
They are just playing the game following a guide. I don’t mind if someone is worse than me going for gear, but I will say it’s really really frustrating sometimes seeing an item like that go to them when they are doing extremely terrible.
Just ran a Kara last night on my hunter alt, the pug randomly decided to invite another hunter…which ok I’ll roll against him on the bow it’s just my alt anyway idc.
He is fully fully fully decked out in bis besides the bow. I think alright I won’t res the bow and go for the greaves and stuff because he will probably end up carrying me in time anyway.
LOLNOPE sr locked in did attunmen and the dude pulled 600 dps. He never sent his pet in on any fight until kill command made his pet go in. It died to every aoe and pretty sure it had taunt on. I checked details every now and then and steady shot was like 80% of his damage so he was for sure clipping every single auto attack he could.
The bow didn’t drop but if it did I’m ngl I would have been annoyed
Because it’s the last item I need from dungeons for my BIS this phase and I’d even use it next phase or the one after that (hopefully not that long) until I can get DST once the other people in my guild ahead of me get theirs.
I would assume that’s self explanatory but apparently not.
