I have noticed something about priest class forums, a lot of you guys seem to want priests to be bad. If disc is doing well in mythic raiding, it has to be nerfed so other healers can enjoy raiding as well.
Complaints about holy being mediocre in every content that brings nothing unique in terms of toolkit, the response is that its fine if holy isn’t a great healer and if people want to play a great healer they can choose another healing class.
What is wrong with wanting your class to be great, When I check out other class forums they just want what they enjoy playing to be as good as possible.

But Holy just got good buffs?
…well you kinda have to be Night fae but stil…
I would prefer they had buffed other covenants too…
I just mean the mindset of priest players, for example there were loads of people defending holy priests being the worst M+ healer and how that was something completely fine.
Priest players have no obligation to worry about other healers, they should want the best for their class.

I think they were more like ‘Holy could do +15 fine’ but not really ‘Holy could compete with Sham’.
Anyway, It doesn’t matter now. Holy is better than ever.

Thats like saying people should have no concern for other people and just worry about themselves. Not a good way to be a good person im sure you agree.
But to answer your question, which i kinda just did on another thread. Most of us are healers first and take a more global view on healing not just our local fish pond. We understand that SS is toxic to other healers ands their enjoyment.
As i said a minute ago, a lot of Disc doesnt like SS. not the class itself. So we would like SS gone but buffs in other areas.
Last xpac glimmer made hpallies op by a long way, and when glimmer got nerfed, if you went to the hpally forums you saw threads where they understood why they got nerfed and while no one generally likes being nerfed, they understood it and were ok with it.
Holly priests can answer for themselves but i imagine a lot of them are frustrated being passed over for disc and want a chance to shine

The class as a whole has been perpetually gutted, and dumbed down since Ulduar I think it’s just created the masochistic mentality of “thank you blizz may I have another.”

So don’t use SS if you don’t like it, or go play holy.
Priest haters seem to think that blizz will actually buff disc as compensation for SS nerfs. 3 expansions of experience show us that blizz only nerfs disc so asking for it just lets the devs sleep that much easier.

There’s a difference between wanting something nerfed to the ground and having it fairly balanced. Holy and Disc should do relatively the same amount of overall HPS determined by player skill, gear, etc. whilst providing unique toolkits that compliment each other.
It’s annoying for Holy players to get spammed with “can you play Disc?” messages when they try applying to guilds or get 1/10th the amount of applications a Disc priest would get w/ similar experience. You either feel forced to play Disc or have to look harder for a guild to take you as you are.
Just looking at some guild prog today… Disc got kicked down pretty hard. Some fights their HPS has fallen below even Holy. Will have to look at the overall HPS chart though atleast 1-2 weeks in.

And now those messages are going to turn into “can you reroll Shaman or a Paladin?”. Thank God I got KSM on this guy before the nerf so I can finally shelve him for my Druid. All I need is to finish Sire (as Holy) with my guild this weekend and I’m done with priest for a while.
Its a wonderful day. The sun is shining, flowers growing. I hit a new PB 215kg squat last night. could things get better.

I mean I’m not denying the Disc nerf might be a bit too much. It’s hard to balance healers because we don’t run like a spreadsheet sim and it comes down to your healer composition a lot of the time. Mythic prog is less about who’s pumping numbers, but how tight your healer core is… because some of these Mythic fights are 10 minutes long, and you have to coordinate 9-10 different phases of healing cooldowns which is insane.
The question at the end of the day was if Disc simply made the fights easier to complete with them vs without.
There’s a difference between wanting your class to be bad, and recognizing when a singular specific playstyle is completely toxic for the game.
Nobody wants any of the priest specs to be bad. They just don’t want Spirit Shell back. It’s been horribly divisive since it was first announced coming back, and the entire Disc priest community has literally memed about how it coming back was a bad move for months.
I honestly don’t know why people keep saying Priests are begging to get nerfed. People asking for SS nerfs have from the very start been saying they should get some atonement or damage back in the same breath. Do you guys just only see Discipline as the Spirit Shell talent?
There isn’t anyone saying Holy or Shadow should get nerfed. Hell there’s nobody saying Disc overall should get nerfed. Just Spirit Shell.
Outside that, all you get is talk about how Holy really isn’t as bad as people make it out to be - but that’s not asking for the class to be bad.

It’s clear that most people were right.
Hadn’t spirit shell returned, then Disc wouldn’t have gotten gutted the way it did and people wouldn’t be running around complaining, changing talents, or even rerolling. The spell should not have made it back into the game, it’s just toxic.

I remember beta and we were all in disbelief that they would go down this track again, and we all knew where it would lead to in the end.

I know right. It’s like, instead of making changes that would make Disc more compelling for both Mythic+ and Raiding we got an OP spell that was bound to be nerfed with literally no other progress for the rest of the spec in general… it’s just sad.
My guild’s core has 2 Disc priests and yesterday I had to build my Holy legendary ASAP (Flash Concentration, which seems to be doing great in raids) and despite not being really experienced with Holy this xpac, I had no trouble surpassing our other healers (Hpally, Mistweaver and the afore mentioned Disc Priest).
Honestly, Holy is quite decent and very fun to play. It’s been my favored spec all along until I felt I had the obligation to go Disc because of Spirit Shell… I can’t really see the nerf as a bad thing, but a sign that Blizz might be going the right direction.

Buzzword of the day, “Toxic”.
In other news, self hating forum priests receive 2 more good boy points!

Lack of shared opinion doesn’t mean somebody is being toxic.
At the end of the day it’s down to Blizzard to make adjustments to classes ingame from buffs to nerfs. Some people may agree with the changes and others may not. Just I feel like getting emotional about it and attacking others won’t really help the cause. It’s there: provide feedback the developers can read and maybe things will change.
No it’s shell what’s being called toxic not the opinions, even tho that’s a completely useless meme word regurgitated by brainlets and used on things they dislike.
My opinion is actually we should go back to full disc priest absorb supremacist and bring back divine aegis mastery with prayer of healing and archangel, other healers be damned.
I mean it’s pretty clear how toxic it is for the game just by how people act about it now. Even ignoring its effect on the healing meta, the spell’s inclusion already gets people fighting each other.
