Why do People use Uninstalling as if its Permanent?

Have you ever had anyone say they’re done with anything in life and not be?

It’s human nature.

These forums are also not a binding contract.

People lie.

People change their mind

Take your pick

obviously for attention, and you lot are providing plenty of it.

Sometimes I want to for other reasons.

The only time a game has made me feel this way, was playing Overwatch. I have damaged a screen before. But hey, I learned something-- the person on the other end definitely, without a doubt, cannot feel it when you punch the screen.

We’ve got a guildmate who has lost a TV or two from throwing controllers out of frustration.

Weirdest on-topic post of the day.

Because uninstalling is more than “I quit! I have had it, so I just logged out!” which means nothing.

Just fyi, you can still enjoy the game even when others are not and deciding to move on.

i’ve uninstalled when quitting not because i was quitting but because at the time my hard drive was so small i couldn’t fit a damn thing and WoW was taking up majority of the space. i have quit countless times i guess you can call it that or taking a break w.e. one you want to call it.

i really don’t quit in the sense i always assume i will be back. i think only once i tried to quit for good not really because of the game but because all my friends quit. spent some time looking for another mmorpg to play and sadly couldn’t really find one that i really liked. tried a bunch f2p and p2p like gw2, ff14, etc… not saying they are bad im just nit picky around certain areas of games that for me are a major turn off

Don’t act like you’ve never spoken to your toothbrush

… with the default of my sub isn’t expired yet or something along those lines.

Which is funny to me because if you just vented how much you hate the game can’t stand it etc …then you still hang around to post on the forums?

If I hate something that bad I want nothing to do with it anymore. Period.

I recently uninstalled wow, but I was trying to fix a game problem. Then I reinstalled and did a bunch of other stuff and those problems went away.

Really easy to install this game.

for me, it takes me around a week to fully download the game. so if I uninstall, yes, I’m not coming back lol

You don’t need to do that. There is a WoW account closure process one can go through that’ll kill your account for good and not need you to go through the token process of deleting toons…and technically deleting toons isn’t permanent either since you can restore them…this account closure process is permanent (supposedly).

As for the OP, people want attention clearly. No different than the usual blowhards here who “quit” because hunters suck or their supposed mythic guild benched them because Blizzard hates their class and “quit”.

Psychologically speaking that’s actually a pretty beneficial (let alone common) tactic to prevent an action if that’s your goal. Inconveniencing yourself in some way is a proven method of breaking or changing habits.

It’s the same thing as hiding junk food in the pantry rather than leaving it out in the open for you to walk by and grab. Nothing stops you from going in there and rooting around for the family sized bag of chips to take back to your desk, but you force yourself to think about and then go do it.

Plenty of studies about looking at behavior (especially food related); give someone a plate and they will be inclined to fill the plate up as best as possible regardless of size. Leave the food at the counter if you want seconds and people contemplate harder than if the food is waiting to be picked up off the kitchen table.

I dunno, when I uninstalled hearthstone back in 2017, I never went back. It’s a lot easier once it’s gone. Out of sight/out of mind.

Funny, me too.

Actually, I still have it on my phone, but I don’t think I’ve opened that app in at least 5 years. I cannot comprehend the kind of people who like those card games.

After tiktok took over and youtube/facebook reels came after I found myself staring at my facebook reels for ungodly amounts of time whenever I meant to take a short little scroll break.

All I did was take facebook off my homepage and I broke the habit quite easily. Sure, I still go there ocassionally but it’s far less frequent now.

Wish it worked like that for me. If I suddenly feel the need for cookies I will just go to the store and buy them and the longer I wait to do that the more I tend to eat.

Meh, I can see both sides. You already spent money on it, might as well make the most of it…but then they show up like 3 weeks later still ranting. Still subbing. Lol
