Why do people put no effort into their grammar and punctuation in TRP?

As one does, of course.

It’s not missing a word or two or making the occasional human mistake, it’s consistent, terrible misuse of the English language that needs to stop.

when do you start taking your own advice, Calligraphy boy?

You get the limo out front
Hottest styles, every shoe, every color
Yeah, when you’re famous, it can be kinda fun
It’s really you, but no one ever discovers

In some ways you’re just like all your friends
But on stage you’re a star

You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together
And you know that it’s the best of both worlds

You go to movie premiers (was that Orlando Bloom?)
Hear your songs on the radio
Livin’ two lives is a little weird
But school’s cool 'cause nobody knows

Yeah, you get to be a small town girl
But big time when you play your guitar

You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together
And you know that it’s the best of both worlds

Pictures and autographs
You get your face in all the magazines
The best part is that
You get to be whoever you wanna be

Best, best, yeah, the best of both
Best, best, you got the best of both
Best, best, c’mon, the best of both

Who would’ve thought that a girl like me
Would double as a super star?
You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together
And you know that it’s the best

You get the best of both worlds
Without the shades and the hair
You can go anywhere
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together, oh yeah
It’s so much better
'Cause you know you’ve got
The best of both worlds

Does is bother you Spanish is going to become the most used language in America within 20 years? English is irrelevant. It’s time to move on and past it.

Rate my recent emote:

So… It’s like people who have a bad run-on sentence habit?

I have played tabletop roleplay games for a decade longer than I have roleplayed on WoW. At the table, there is no writing at all in regards to the story. Grammar is irrelevant to the enjoyment of the game, as it is completely verbal. I’ll admit that I view WoW rp like tabletop rp. It is all story-driven. I don’t care one bit about someone’s typing mistakes, grammar, etc. My advice is to sit back and relax. Enjoy the people you are rp-ing with. Enjoy the development of the story. Disregard their grammar. On the rare chance that misreading an emote guides you in the wrong direction (‘not’ typed as ‘now’ can completely change the meaning) just recon it and move on.

your grammar is irrelevant because language changes

language is an art form and its rules are meant to be broken!

what you are doing is being an elitist gatekeeper. “Clearly you’re not good because you don’t apply to my rules.”

Sint says, “Maybe have fun once in your petty life, as a treat.”

You are talking about grammar, then you literally messed up your own.

It means a lot.

Especially when you say things like THIS.

I have never successfully completed Calligraphy. I don’t even try any more.

And now these Tortollan kids don’t even know how to fill out their TRPs. All because I couldn’t teach them to write…

… I deserve to go to Revendreth.

Language is water. Sometimes it moves fast like a raging river and changes constantly (hello, internet) and sometimes it is fairly sedate and the changes are subtle over time (hello, English since Chaucer’s time) and sometimes it’s stagnate and kind of just stays the same but the changes are quietly happening below the surface (hello, Icelandic!)

Language shifts and moves all the time. Your grammar that you cling to so hard doesn’t matter, in the end. It’s nice to have standardized rules I guess. But really, if you go and look at the history of the English language you will find that most of the grammatical rules were put into place because a bunch of white men were bored or arbitrarily hated the way things were going with the language at a certain point in history. It’s kind of stupid, really.

But Exalted, the key difference here is that you didn’t come to the realm forums to make a thread about it. Get frustrated and belligerent when people respond with tips and saying it isn’t necessarily bugged. Get furious that people take a bit of the piss. Fall into some downward spiral. Then finally decide that the only way to show up these absolute knaves is to lurch around the realm forums presenting yourself as the be-all and end-all of roleplay, eat a few forum suspensions, and still not have even a split second moment of insight and introspection that maybe, just maybe. You’re in the wrong.

Reading anything Timari writes is like winding up a fork full of ramen and taking a bite and then finding several long, greasy hairs tangled up in it

Not everyone can speak or write correct English and grammar. English is my second language because I’m deaf and sign language is my first language, took me all of my life to learn proper English and grammar. To this day, I STILL think my grammar isn’t perfect but others would say that mine is perfect. So, what I am saying is…not everyone is perfect when it come to English and grammar. If I see a mistake, I don’t call them out. I just simply let them know in a kind manner. No need to be hostile about it like Timari does. >.>

I find it ironic that Timari made a typo or two in her first post.

And yet you have better grammar/spelling than a good 40% of RPers. You aren’t perfect but at least you’re trying.

soljeron why can’t shields block physical objects flung at them

please, i need the RP god’s take on why i wouldn’t be able to block an arrow or piece of ice or the spit of an enraged vagabond

Reading anything Soljeron writes is like experiencing moderate diarrhea cramps, but then visiting a restroom and having little of note happen, but then the real cramps hit when you’re back in the office and need to get productive and you know you’ll get the side eye from your supervisor but you really really need to go

I like this game, I’m’a try!

Reading anything Timjeron writes is like buying a pizza, but when you bring it home and go to start eating, you realize someone already took a bite out of each slice!

I didit gud?

Also the crust has the slightest burnt taste so you’ll still eat it because we don’t waste in this house but it’s really unsatisfying and you feel overall worse for having had it
