I often lurk and like in threads simply because I may not have anything to add. It’s also pretty easy to comment the wrong way and get your head bitten off.

What Thorland said, I read threads and if something was said that was thoughtful/insightful, funny (if pertinent to the thread) etc
 I will like it, but if I have nothing to add then there is no point in commenting just to comment

I will like a post if I agree with someone. I don’t necessarily need to add to a thread with the same message if someone else already said something I like. I hope that made sense.

I’m also willing to bet some people will throw likes out at random to maintain their trust level on the forums. I do it for some of mine. I also will like a reply that someone else beat me to, or put more eloquently than I could.

Liking things is faster. Sometimes there’s just nothing to say.

If I happen to agree with what someone else said and don’t have anything original myself to add, I’ll give them a heart and be on my way. I don’t need to respond to every single thing that pops up on the forums.

i think of " likes " as " agreement button " on serious posts.
Like when i pass by a high elf/flying thread and i see what i was thinking already. i just hit that button. like a " ya, agreed with you there "
