I want you guys to explain to me what is being a “1%” player?
Any player that wants to raid even on normal difficulty needs to be using the meta corruption/essence or have an understanding of the current borrowed power system of the expac. When you pug for raid or mythic+ people are ruthless and will always go for someone that is higher ilvl or is breaking the dps from taking advantage of the system. Nobody will invite you if you just want you to have some fun and be stuck at the first boss when someone else that is using what is best is waiting to join the group.
Now explain to me what is a 1% when this changes affect everyone, you have the illusion of choice but when you decide to do “high end content” that usually starts with the raid on normal or low lvl keys you will be gatekeeped because you are not using what is meta. This is the truth and will never change.
Then what is a 1%? Someone that raids? Someone that mythic+? Someone that PVPs? Someone that uses the system to benefit themselves so they are not a handicapp?
Tell me plz.
Thankfully I don’t. Haven’t pugged for a raid since wotlk, and my guild doesn’t require me to do anything special except show up with my own consumables. I hardly did any mythic+ this expac, probably less than 10 overall.
Because only like 1-5% of players actually do raids
You might say 1-5% but this people are the ones that play the game most and are the ones that stick through expansions.
Well you see the game has been taken over by people who only do world quests as content and for some reason decided they needed to have opinions on everything that they don’t even do
But that’s only on GD, if you take this to other places most people seem to understand
Because overt changes done for the 1% can trickle down and affect everyone.
So we put it under a lens of that.
Because only the 1% aka high end raiders will get affected because they are the only ones who need to min max due to world first mythic raid/m+
Anyone else does not need to min max and can do all content without meta/fotm, and they need to learn that, because when you see someone that does 15s trying to copy and pretend the meta of 29s is relevant and refuse invites to class not in 29s, then we have a serious community problem.
The high end 1% will relevel new characters to get bis legendary, they are gonna do 1000 islands for ap, they are gonna level 4 of each class, YOU NEVER EVER BALANCE A GAME AROUND THE EXISTENCE OF SUCH PEOPLE because it will be ruined by everyone else.
It isn’t just “the 1%” that likes optimizing their characters. Most peoples end game revolves around that. This just makes it less enjoyable.
Why do you act like there’s something wrong with wanting your character to be as strong as it can be? Ever play an Aff lock in M+? It sucks. And it won’t not suck just because min maxing is harder. So it still won’t get invited to groups.
But that is what im trying to explain in my post. Not only mythic raiders and mythic+ min max. Even on normal and heroic there is people min maxing so they get the spot and not you.
This is wrong. Of course you balance the game around people that know how to use their spellbooks. There is no reference point of a time where WoW was balanced around people who didn’t know anything about their class and it being a success. You are making up a result from a premise that has never existed in WoW.
And what is a 1% plz explain. You say changes that affect a 1% but everyone plays the game and everyone that tries to get into raiding/mythic+/ranked quicly realises that they have to min max the system.
World First-ers.
I am doing m+ and mythic bosses and dont nee to optimize my character, I am doing 4-5k less dps if I chose shadow word void, if i used crit gems, if I used alchemy trinket and probably a lot more if I went for the full crit build instead of more haste/crit build.
I am playing the way I like, as Ion said, the gameplay I gravitate towards instead of playing the way someone else tells me.
I am playing a shadow priest and I am doing just fine, on the same skill level I will obviously do less damage than bm huntards but that is not something that stops me from doing m+ or mythic
THEY DONT NEED TO MIN MAX IF THEY ARE COMPETENT. Most heroic raids and many mythic raids always have a number of people who underperform even when playing meta, if you are good at your class you dont have to worry playing whatever spec since the game IS DESIGNED FOR ALL SPECS TO BE ABLE TO BEAT MYTHIC RAIDS AND M+
World first and m29s are not what the game is balanced around aka the only place that requires min maxing.
You keep saying need. People WANT to maximize their character regardless of need. Being better helps at all levels, not just cutting edge raiding, and having an optimal character is more enjoyable than not having an optimal character
And you are proving my point. What is “being conpetent”? Using the system to your advantage. Using the best essenece for your class, the right corruption, not just going as afflic warlock and doing 30k on heroic nzoth.
VERY GOOD POINT.
You want something even you dont need it, the issue with that attitude is that sooner or later wannabe elites take that and force the “want” into a “mandatory need” for everyone around them.
The wannabe elitists are the ones who want invite a warlock for example in a m15 because they are stupid enough to believe warlocks are bad even though they are designed and balanced well enough to do a m15 and mythic bosses.
You see, covenants wouldnt need to be locked if community wasnt filled with toxic wannabe elitists who try to force meta on others by refusing to invite or telling others how to play their game.
THAT IS THE CORE OF THE ISSUE THAT COVENANTS ARE HERE TO FIX.
TO TEACH PEOPLE THAT YOU DONT NEED META TO DO CONTENT.
Your selfish attitude of “I dont care if toxicity exists, I just want to min max” is only making the issue worse because the wannabe elitists affect the community negatively by demanding everyone follows the meta.
Nobody is forcing you to do anything. Start your own groups with your own relaced requirements if you don’t like the requirements of others. There are LOTS of non-elitist players just as there are lots of players and guilds with loose requirements.
False, being competent isnt being a meta slave.
Being competent means knowing your class, how it works, and have good awareness and reaction speed, that is being competent.
If you are competent you can play any spec or build to a good enough level to compete and do m+ and mythic raids.
Metas will always and have always existed. That will literally never change. Don’t like it, form your own groups and go against the meta. That’s what I do.
