Your comment made me actually join their respective discords to check this out. Although I’m not surprised as the sethrak discord has a reputation of being quite toxic.
And I noticed that while they do give a lot of crap to the MGs, it is also pretty much the same people in both the sethrak discord and the vulpera discord that complain about them, it’s also those that championed sethrak the most.
I can understand that it sucks not getting the AR they want but acting so toxic is not great for your community reputation.
I also don’t have access to the so-called “Hissing pit” as you have to be granted the rank to read and post in it. But from what I can tell it’s for venting out your frustrations, and I’d imagine it’s quite toxic if it’s worse in the “venting channel” than what they’ve said about MGs and other ARs in the public ones.
I think it’s a shame that the main sethrak discord has gone down such a path when the sethrak themselves is a very cool race.
I can’t agree with this as I think the Sethrak would have been an awesome addition to the game, and they’re well-liked even outside the sethrak discord.
It would be very petty to deny the wow player base a race based on one very small group’s toxic behavior.

I can see this. Your right about this. However just think for a minute of how these people would have been treating Mechagnome fans If Sethrak became playable instead of Mechagnomes. They would be very condescending and relentless in their attacks. The reason they get away with this is because they have so many supporters, but if they were faced with a competiting AR group that had much more popularity, they’d be the ones getting their race called a waste of an allied race slot and understand how it feels to be in the minority interest.
These guys simply should have understood that there was simply zero chance of Sethrak ever being playable. Looking at the trend of ARs, it was going to be some kind of gnome we’d get.
That’s what got me with Pandaren. I’d main one, but I just can’t get seem to get past their height. I picture them as being between dwarfs and humans in height, but in game they’re around Nightelf in stature.
I realize it’s a personal hangup, and maybe I’ll get past it someday. It’s similar with Mechagnomes for me, I just find them off putting.
As for Vulpera, multiple tails and glowing eyes would be kind of cool, imo
As you’re not going around (at least as far as I can tell) telling us we’re awful just because we exist, that’s fine. No one will force you to play a mechagnome or blame you for having that kind of opinion.
Some folk just don’t jive with robots.
… That would be neat. Lol
I disagree.
I get this sentiment a bit with mechagnomes but how do you figure with Vulpera? Their entire story is about working with the Horde and the Alliance only ever fights them.
Just because the alliance needs the vulpera and they could/should have been written to be neutral like the sethrakk are. It would have been good for restoring faction balance, and it would mean that horde get mechagnomes. That’s the main reason, they couldn’t give horde mechagnomes without giving vulpera to alliance as well. It makes a great deal of sense to have mechagnomes allied with both factions. Just seems like a mistake to limit vulpera and mechagnomes to horde and alliance.
Would be a interesting mechanic if all the ARs were neutral. That way people can pick what they want regardless of faction. But, blizz is not about player agency - so get the arcade machine scrap gnomes and like it .
Personally, I don’t think the Vulpera make a good alliance race. They’re opportunistic scavengers with let’s say lax ethics, and very much built on doing what they need to do to survive.
Mechagnomes on the other hand (or clamp if you have those) are really just an evolution of gnomes. It’s like the Draenei and LFD.
Also I don’t really think any race really is going to change end game faction balances unless they end up with a really unbalanced racial. Something the Vulpera do not have.
Not asking you to like it. Just asking you to stop being unkind to those who do enjoy them.
While I’m trying to hold my thoughts on the upcoming customizations that add races (wildhammer etc) I honestly think I’d rather see more AR’s rather than less racials.
Let’s take the Wildhammer as an example. They’re visibly very much like ironforge dwarves but looking at their history and lore you could easily see them having different racials, like their legendary storm hammers being a racial minor dmg and short stun. Or their relationship with gryphons being used somehow.
I feel mechagnomes racials and lore stand up in the same way. Honestly we have some really good racials.
How is saying the MGs look like underdeveloped arcade machines being a dick to anyone in particular? My problem is not you or those who are deluding themselves into believing this race is quality. The problem is that blizzard releases things that are severely lacking.
But…but…but lore. Oh wait, doesn’t blizz write the lore? So they can rationalize any race being on any faction. Or just make crap up entirely and throw em neutral like Pandas.
