Why do people hate on mechagnomes

I kinda like being a lesser picked choice. I have VE too and see them literally everywhere, thus far at 72 I’ve seen exactly one compatriot leveling and I’ve seen maybe three mechagnomes total on other characters at cap. Being part mechanical in a fantasy game is different, and it should feel so. Though if we swarm I won’t be mad.

Thing is, I’ve already cleared the biggest hurdle, I already liked gnomes. They’re actually the only race I don’t roll female, and to me this is just a cooler gnome, win win. Good racials too, I’ve already unlocked a box (c’mon it’s just satisfying) and my defensives seem very sound. Even the crafting station is a very cool QoL.

Honestly I could not be happier with this character, hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be soloing worldbosses and stuff.

It’s not really hating on them, it is they were not a very popular option. Add to that how most Alliance allied races have been a disappointment and you can understand why people see them as yet another wasted chance to give the Alliance something good.

We were hoping for a decent race. I am glad some people like them. That way it isn’t a total waste, but, still. :frowning:

That being said. I am not judging people for playing what they want. I just disappointed.

Completely reasonable. I think I would’ve preferred samurai fish people over mecha gnomes at the end of the day BUT i also enjoyed mecha gnomes.

The problem is players literally scapegoating and dumping hate on mechagnome players or even mechagnomes as a concept.

I hate to play the victim and I’d understand skepticism but I’ve gotten crap in game through /spit or a comment every now and then.

It’s w/e but it’s ridiculous as hell.

Mechagnomes weren’t a waste allied race slot by any means. Gnomes were only ever going to get some kind of gnome or something using the gnome rig for the gnome slot. People who were getting their hopes up for something else were the ones who were at fault.

People can see them as they like but the truth is the AR’s were determined before bfa was released… And we had plenty of time to square with the obviousness that was going to be mechagnomes and vulpera. All the data mining pointed to them as the next two AR.

Too many focus on what they don’t like and just harp on it here on the forums.

Folk should really give mechagnomes a chance or just don’t play them at all.

Also as a partially related side note. I’ve had one guy be a butt while I’ve leveled because I was a mechagnome and the rest of the party kicked him. Most folk either like us or are ambivalent. I’d wager almost all those folk think all this hate for us is just a ridiculous waste of time. Lol

AHAHAHA! This looks like something a daughter said to her father about the new boyfriend whose father has simply identified as the source of evil on Earth and who she hopes will see the virtues of punk, trying to convince her father not to forbid her to date with him.

Within 2 or 3 months, the grudge and disappointment that junkgnomes brought to the interior of the alliance, will subside and be just another sad thing, among several BfA, with which we will have to live and when proper digestion occurs and negative emotions dissipate…

It remains for lovers of junkgnomes to resist and wait, and not to think that there is a movement of hatred against players of gnomes or junkgnomes.

There is though. Just go to the Sethrak or Vulpera discord and type in Mechagnome and you’ll see countless bits of hate and comments about trying to convince blizzard not to add them and even people trying to attack and discourage those who wanted them. They were actively campaigning to hurt the Mechagnome fanbase in essence. Lovers of gilgoblins also got a similar problem, but they don’t have the solice of having their desired AR confirmed. Now think for a minute how much worse the Sethrak playerbase would have been to the Mechagnome fanbase if they actually got Sethrak. To be honest with you. Because of the way these people were acting towards mechagnomes, they don’t deserve Sethrak whatsoever.

We don’t have time to unpack all of that. :snake:

I at least partially agree with you here. In time the hurt feelings and pain those like you feel will pass and you’ll wonder why you were such dicks for no reason. Many of you will play a mechagnome and find that you like them even.

Resist folk being hateful of me for no reason? Yes.

I know full well there is a tiny movement of folk who are feeling hurt over, in their minds, not getting their AR and putting the blame on mechagnomes, or Kul’tirans or whomever they see as the problem.

Eventually they’ll realize that all the AR’s were decided long before bfa launched and how silly they’re being. Especially given that those of us who play them, really don’t have any power to make any AR a thing.

Because, we could of had adorable OG Northrend Mechagnomes, but instead we got diaper gnome-bots. I, for one, feel cheated. Also, the whole Mechagon plot/plotline was just a copy of the Northrend quest chain. Just expanded to be a whole zone instead of a side quest line at Fizzcrank to flesh out gnomish lore. King Mechagon is literally doing the same thing as Mechazod did.

edit: we also could of had leper gnomes instead. Common, a sickly green gnome that’s stark raving mad? Yes, please.

While I think you’re valid for wanting the mechagnomes from wrath, I personally like this better. Those mechagnomes were nothing but robots with little will of their own past a couple. Struck me mostly as Drones.

Mechagnomes from Mechagon are also easier to integrate with our normal gnomes being more of an evolution of their concepts.

Not too dissimilar from the draenei and LFD in that respect.

I don’t remember this one as much, been awhile, but eh. Blizz reuses plots fairly often I’m not that concerned. Also as I brought up above this way is easier to integrate.

I have a feeling this will be a customization… I mean I wouldn’t mind an AR of most anything but I bet if blizz is going to add them it will be there.

I don’t bang on anyone for playing them. I just don’t like the concept, knowing what could have been. They could have done a questline or something about the Northrend Mechagnomes becoming self-aware/sentient. I think it would have been more fun but, Mechagon is what it is. I’ve gone to Horde for the Vulpera. I find such a whimsical and clever race of scavengers absolutely charming; and it doesn’t hurt I find them visually adorable.

To each there own.

That’s fair.

I don’t begrudge folk not liking mechagnomes. I begrudge them being dicks to us for no reason and starting threads just to poop on us.

I too love my little Vulpera. Hoping to get her to 120 after this toon.

There is so many what ifs though. Vulpera could have been taller with multiple tails and firey eyes. What if the version we got of vulpera was actually pretty bad compared to what could have been? It is what it is and I am happy with it anyway.

I simply hate Mechagnome because they are part of the Alliance.
I hate the Alliance.

I know you do. I know you do. pat pat

I just don’t like gnomes… and sometimes even goblins at least the ah goblins.

That being said diaper gnomes look silly from my point of view. They need less diaper and more borg from star trek,.

I don’t hate them, but I think they look a little weird and I don’t have any desire to play one. And yeah it’s not because they are gnomes, it’s the mechanical parts. It just looks creepy to me.

Sorry if you are a mechagnome and find that offensive :\

This…

And this are just personal opinions. You’re not hurting anyone. That’s all fine and dandy. You don’t like em you don’t have to play em. I got no beef with these statements.

As far as this, calling us diaper gnomes is just trying to be derogatory.

The rest is just your opinion. Most of us mechagnomes would welcome more customizations though so…

Edit: and who spends that much time so hyper focused on the groin? It’s so small on gnomes. (pun only sort of intended)
