Why do people hate on mechagnomes

If Blizzard literally made a pile of garbage an Alliance AR, would you defend it?

Why would they do that? They haven’t before and it wouldn’t make sense for them to do so now.

You can hate Mechagnomes I guess, but they’re not garbage. There is no objective standard that would pertain to WoW where anyone seriously considering their worth would find them to be garbage. Their Gameplay is solid. Their Lore is just as good as most of the other AR’s horde or alliance.

And the horde got an actual RACE with Vulpera…

So your opinion is that all the other AR’s, Horde and Alliance are bad? I don’t think your problem is with Mechagnomes then.

Its not just the Mechagnomes. Alliance in general is lackluster. The main BFA story had our leader pigeonholed into measly support roles. It was the Saurfang and Sylvanas show

Oh no, the Horde got some character screen time. Its not like all of Legion was basically Alliance characters or something.

Nevermind that we had plenty of screen time ourselves this expansion. Kul’tiras was plenty of fleshing out the Kul’Tiran people and redeeming one of our bigger lore characters.

And I mean the Horde doesn’t even get to really be a thing in 8.3. Baines standing in the background with Mayla, and they only get to know this because a generally Alliance character tells them it happened.

Imagine raiders picking a race solely due to its strong racials? That has never happened before!!! Certainly not in PvP when humans had the overpowered racials

At this point that ship sailed ages ago. The people are on the Horde, the raiders can find groups with folk who know what they’re doing. An AR with the best racials in the game wouldn’t bring that back. It’ll take far more than that.

The ONLY reason we know the Alliance won was because of an offhand remark at blizzcon last year.
Alliance didn’t get to celebrate in-game and the horde sure didn’t experience losing in-game.
Didn’t even make it into a BOOK.

Thats been an issue with Blizzard for all of WoW’s run. This isn’t something new.

Night elves not satisfied. Well reflected? They need story hooks to drag along and build off of. Pretty sure with this they don’t expect night elves to be satisfied.

They absolutely do need to have something to push them forward. Especially since its looking like the story will be shifting to Night Elves and Worgen seeking revenge in later expacs.

Yeah Blizzard said that Tyrande already got her revenge, so, too bad.

So they rushed the story ahead of the books to a questionable outcome. I am having Game of Thrones Season 8 flashbacks!!!

We already saw that scene and Nathanos held off Tyrande and Malfurion at the same time.
What would be different now? Did she get “nighter” or something?

This ultimately depends on how you consider vengeance. Tyrande wants the Banshee apparently and will be sated with that. so… since we’re likely to kill her in SLs, I think thats quite likely.

Expecting them to slaughter and destroy the Horde would be unlikely however. lol

As far as Nathan there, I suspect that was a matter of plot convenience, they wanted to deal a blow to Sylvanas but couldn’t remove the guy who is literally the equivalent to Wyrmbane for the Horde.

Which are worse off than the standard gnomes. No bright colored hair, lack of robotic choices, many mogs destroyed by said “robotic choices”.

Hey none of us are against more customizations for them. Lets be clear about that. More is always better.

But their current customization is actually pretty good compared to some of the others. And Mogs ain’t anywhere near to a real problem for anyone actually playing them. lol

If you makes you feel better… it’s not Mechagnomes, specfically. It’s just a universal truth that robotic based enemies are almost always pretty lame.

It’s simple really, because the the Horde got the most incredibe unique race ever in WoW

Did they?

Re-purposed Orcs.
Re-purposed Tauren.
Re-purposed Trolls.
Re-purposed Elves.

And then they got Vulpera (which are technically reSKINNED Goblins, but I’ll still give you this one).

As I see it, Horde got ONE “Unique” race.

So this really isn’t a good argument against Mechas.

I won’t argue against most of what you said. I was only trying to answer the OP’s question in this particular case.

A lot of people feel that the Alliance got the short end of the deal (there’s kind of a funny Gnome joke there) when compared to the Vulpera and it seems like they like taking their dissatisfaction out on the Mechagnomes.

The other reason is that people have always given Gnomes grief. It’s just a fact and when it now comes to Mechagnomes it makes them ever more of a target for grief.

You mean like the Dark Iron? Or the Zandalari? Or the Highmountain? Or the Mag’har? Or the Lightforged?

Even the Nightborne and the VELFs were an attempt to give one race to the other faction.

Kul Tiran and Vulpera are the only ones that are technically “different” from the other ARs.

Once again you’re looking at the bigger Allied race comparison. When you directly compare Mechagnomes to Vulpera you are comparing a repurposed Gnome against a wildly unique race. This is what people are upset about.

I would also argue that when you compare the Vulpera against any Horde or Alliance Allied race there’s no comparison which is the most unique of all of them.

This is generally just a smokescreen that people have latched onto to turn their feelings into a defensible front.

I think the real issue is they were the last AR (or so they say) of bfa and for many it wasn’t the race they wanted. They’re feeling lost and hurt that what they did want, be it sethrak or Arrokoa, Saberon what have you, is not going to happen, at least any time soon.

That’s a fair assessment. You’re all right friend. I can agree there are likely many different reasons folk think one way or another.

I will say that being mean to those who do like Mechagnomes seems a poor way to release such frustrations. Not saying you did so, just that I wish others would relax a bit.
