It’s amazing that some people still believe Blizzard could have actually gone through with no flying going forward. Here’s a hint: it would have killed the game.
They could have gone through with no flying but we would have a new dev team by now.

I think they should ditch pathfinder and the wait. The best wow expansions in history had flying right at max level.
So you went from “I don’t think Blizzard has misrepresented anything” to “oh well that particular thing doesn’t bother me”.
The way Blizzard handled flying in WoD was one of the scummiest things to happen in wow.
We didn’t need severely time gated achievements to enjoy the world they made back in BC, wrath, cata, or MoP.
Lets see:
- GCD changes forced into beta with no patch notes
- Pruning has not led to new lasting abilities for classes and spece
- Longboi bye bye
- Water strider nerf
- Portals
I think I can make the list longer, but yeah they have become infamous for their misrepresentations lately.
Here’s my honest question: who is wow meant for now? The classic crowd has classic. The game is absolutely not for the people who enjoyed BC-MoP.
That is the big question. Who is this game designed for? At least the PVP devs were honest that the changes made in legion were to attract new players. Same thing with the reworks of classes in legion. I suspect because new players did not come in droves that they had to put out BFA as a filler expansion.
Look at shadowlands revamp. It is more toward the benefit of new players by having the level squish, and revamped leveling experience.
Blizz is chasing new players but they need to start taking care of their existing playerbase IMVHO.
Sounded unanimous to me.
I know this post is 9 days old but I had to comment on it because this poster is exactly right. At one time Blizzard was known for their storytelling and compelling content. When they added flying it didn’t detract from that, in fact they used it beautifully.
This quest involved flying and a lot of travel. But what made it memorable is the story it told. The once inspired devs made content that was actually enhanced by flying.
I wish people would stop making excuses for a poor and transparently cheap game design. There is nothing that pathfinding adds to the game except a horrid time gate.
It’s a scam and not a very good one at that.
For anyone who enjoys it enough to continue playing. Many players find reasons to get mad but the game is simply too good for them to walk away and leave. This game still holds the throne for the mmorpg genre.
Why do you so adamantly defend Blizzard?
I don’t defend Blizzard, a multi-billion dollar company doesn’t need little 'ol me to save them. I’m only siding with what I feel is right.
You seem to think I defend Blizzard all the time, maybe if you’d stop hating on Blizzard for everything they do or say you’d see they aren’t always in the wrong. It astonishes me that there are so many players who seemingly hate Blizzard, hate WoW, think everything they say or do is horrible, but continue to play the game and hang out on the forum to give them internet traffic. If I felt so negatively towards a video game I’d simply find something else I enjoy to fill my time.
When Blizzard released WoD there were over 10 million players clambering to play that game. Millions of players returned wanting to play the WoW that devs stated was returning to “its roots.”
They lost over half their player base in the first few months. Over 5 million people found something else they enjoyed to fill their time. Most of those players left for good.
This is a thread about pathfinding and people are free to say they hate pathfinding. Most people realize it’s a stupid time gate that adds nothing enjoyable.
And as someone who played private servers for years and now Classic, I can tell you it’s pretty sad when a bunch of amateur legacy fans make a better Blizzard game than Blizzard.
Blizzard couldn’t even recreate Vanilla without jacking it up.
Just shills, and yeah, they exist.
Flying is obviously more fun for players, no doubt about it.
Just seems that when people voice their opinions on why they think certain things in wow are bad or how Blizzard has treated their players over the years you’re there to say “well actually…”
If you’re not defending Blizzard why do you antagonize players who don’t agree with Blizzard’s design?
You have absolutely nothing to back this opinion up.
If Blizzard cannot create quality games compared to guys in their garage then it’s amazing to me that they are still one of the top mmorpg’s out there.
Being able to fly is more fun for players, the act of flying in the game is actually boring af, 99% of the time flyng you just point yourself in the direction you need to go and press w or autorun and then look at something else til you get there.
I can tell you I’ll never touch retail again. I can also tell you no one I know who quit in WoD has returned to play retail. So yes, anecdotal evidence, but people who became disgusted with modern WoW wouldn’t return to play modern WoW. That’s just self evident.
According to what? If you’re talking about reviews either from websites or streamers, think again. Gaming companies including Blizzard pay for good reviews. The good news is that you too can make a living kissing the hind end of whatever gaming company wants to pay you (or send you on trips, give you perks, etc.)

Maybe you should consider taking your Blizzard smooching to a professional level.
Do not forget the all mighty reason of how they believed min/maxing was to difficult to understand by the average player. It took all of a Google search to find out what numbers are need to achieve optimal DPS.
