Hehe, true. I don’t expect Blizzard to ever stay consistent with their story anymore anyhow. They change and retcon things on a whim. And as annoying as I find that, that’s what they’re gonna do in any given situation.
They are Priest and Paladins and that’s why they’re in the class halls. (Agreeing with you Airc.)
This silly rumor of “sun Druids” started with an outdated conversation between two NPCs that have been retconned.
I mean, they are. But so is a lightforged DK, or a forsaken holy priest, or a lightforged shadow priest, and so on, and so on.
Game playability allows for race/class combinations that are considered silly by lore. Or common sense.
What. What. What.
The Order Halls invite races from all over to join them. Sunwalkers go to the Eastern Plaguelands and whatever a Sun Priest is goes to the Priest order hall.
That is how Blizzard has always justified Tauren as Paladins and Priests. Why is it such an issue?
“The light has made a bargain with the enemy of all.”
Void Elves are just silly, period.
It’s not an issue with me. I’m on the side they are true Priests and Paladins.
However, there are a lot of players out there that think they are sun Druids.
What’s the source of this claim? If they can backed this up with something substantial to prove it’s cannon, then I’ll be more likely to believe it.
However, if they are just saying this out of pure speculation. Then they are as correct to this claim as much as me saying that Dark Iron Dwarves will turn into piles of coal and Kul Tirans into piles of seaweed if they attempted to be turned into DKs.
How? If by the example you mentioned then I still would like to see the proof that it’s cannon.
If it’s because Arthas is dead, then no. There is a new Lich King now who can raised new DKs.
I don’t know much about that. Haven’t ever heard anyone claim them to be sun druids, but here.
"Tauren priests (known as [Seers], and paladins (known as [Sunwalkers] aim to revere the light of hope that the Earth Mother shines upon the world, through the use of An’she’s power. Tahu Sagewind implies that such a focus on An’she, as opposed to the power of Mu’sha used by druids and night elves, could achieve the balance of the Earth Mother, granting the tauren another blessing from her.
In Cataclysm, the power of An’she can appear either as red flames emerging from a while-hot source or as golden magic similar to other divine magic.
Tauren seem to use the terms “Sun”, “Light” or both as synonyms for An’she."
Yeah I know and again, I agree.
I just meant they aren’t called priests or paladins. They’re seers and sunwalkers. I know it’s splitting hairs, it’s just that for so many people the term paladin carries such a specific “knight in shining armor” image with it that hearing it applied to anything outside that little box just feels wrong.
I do agree that they are priests and paladins in that they do wield the light, same as humans. Or same as zandalari for that matter. But to me the difference is in the specific point of worship for the different races. Humans and dwarves worship the light as a broad abstract force. The tauren worship the sun. The zandalari worship the loa. All driving through different tunnels but arriving at the same destination.
Yes, I understand that.
I am posting it to leave a point in the discussion should others join in.
The Light has never made anyone immune to necromancy.
The Void has never been tested since people weren’t crazy enough to absorb it like Void Elves. Undead are immune to the voids hold so it can be said that a void elf cannot be retain their void abilities after being raised.
Nerd moment : it used to be lore that Paladins were immune to disease and the Plague because of the Light. That was recton’d years ago.
Ok nerd mode off. Carry on.
1: It’s pure speculation and different takes i have gotten from Discord servers and these forums along with some Reddit browsing. I thought my post would imply it was just speculation/unsettled answers but Whatever.
2: Don’t compare Void elves and Lightforged to Kultiran. Kultiran are just Kultiran not void or light. And i still don’t think there is a concrete answer to the interaction of void and light along with necromagic.
3: I already know Arthas is dead and replaced by Bolvar who could theoretically make more death knights. I don’t know why you would assume that i would not know that. In fact who does NOT know this?
Yeah, it’s not like the Light is raising undead now, right?
Wait, what?
Tirion makes this statement false
Lightforged Draenei specifically explode with Light when they die. It’s one of their racials. To be fair though, the body is still there. The explosion could be seen as just the Light leaving their bodies.
Yeah I already said I didn’t know it was a racial and I take back what I said.
exactly. if they can be sewn together into that horrific mount from Antorus they can be turned into a death knight LOL
