Why do most females play healers?

I’m a female. I have a Blood Elf Paladin ( i like doing ranged damage and being able to use the plate mail) and a worgen rogue i’m using right now. I like DPS and I dont bother with healing others as I usually play solo. I like being able to heal myself without potions.

I get on WoW to kill things lol

Wow,sexist much dude? I’ve raided since BC and like to think those I’ve raided with busted their humps to get where they were. Some of the best DPS I’ve come across had just so happen to be women and were a treat to work with. My old rogue was pretty high up there before I shelved it for a bit to tank due to the discrimination melee dps went through in MoP and WoD in favor of cheesing raids with hunters, boomkins and mages.

Op,ignore this nonsense and do know you’re ill informed and there are plenty of ladies who participate in each role, most just dont reveal themselves straight away due to the crap/harassment dealt by angry neckbeards who can’t seem to grasp that they’re not the only demographic in gaming anymore. :stuck_out_tongue: And no,before some people start chucking out buzzwords I’m no “SJW”,extreme feminist, white knight, whatever,it’s just getting old to hear the draconic boys club mentality that women are weak and can’t compete in anything.

i complain nearly every day that warlocks don’t have a healing spec. in my perfect world we’d get rid of aff and give it the SV treatment of going from one thing > to another. goodbye, DoT aff. hello, HoT aff.

I see a rather even mix, definitely more guy healers though, but that’s probably a population difference and not ratio.

Btw, does every top arena player post pictures and/or videos of themselves? Not being snarky, I just don’t know. I don’t care about pvp… which puts me into the stereotype, I guess.

A lot of them stream, and most of the top streamers have a webcam. And if they go to lan tournaments they get pictures/video of themselves.

I’m female and I play dps class i hate healing

Thats odd, I have never known a female healer personally.

Seen one Hunter
One Mage
One warlock

In the guilds i have been in from recent memory.

these threads scream “i want to out all the wimminz of the forums in my thread” but to what end? you’re not asking our battle tags. lol

Every person playing WoW, male and female alike, is lame. That’s equality.

The one exception is me. I’m awesome.

You never really refuted my points. You just said there are less women in esports and top guilds because reasons. Never actually explained what those reasons are. There was even a little bit of people flat out denying that it was even true.

More like tanking “requires” leadership and most men refuse to take orders from women, which makes it difficult for them to lead.

Not even what I said lmao. I said the number of women in esports is irrelevant to the overall competitiveness of an entire gender. You’re officially not worth the time.

We’ll do what we want, when we want, however we want.

And keep your mansplaining to yourself.

Generally because they don’t want to. There was actually a study done regarding competitive Scrabble. The researchers noted that there are plenty of women who enjoy playing Scrabble, but they generally do so for fun. Very few (close to none, actually), are willing to put in the time and the effort required to compete at the highest echelon of the sport.

In other words, it has nothing to do with what kind of brain women have versus men - it’s almost entirely a matter of differing priorities.

(I tried to include a link to the study, but the forum wouldn’t let me)

I like healing but I also like playing DPS. Just not a fan of tanking. As far as the comments women don’t get yelled at when they mess up when they are healing or dps, I would advise you to make a toon and come to SWTOR because they don’t care whether you are a lady or a man. If you mess up they are calling you on it.

i think that he was saying that the mentality of male and female are different and fit different roles more as my personal take on the ‘issue’ here i have 3 female heals and two male heals in my guild. but not many female dps and no female tanks, so my personal experience is that this is the male/female mentality at work. plus my guild would not work if not for all the great gals topping us off and ressing us after the melee stood in the crap again.

No, I don’t think it does. As noted in the study women are well represented in national Scrabble tournaments. Where they seem to draw the line is at spending hours upon hours studying and practicing for it. That does seem to be a difference between men and women, and you can see it everywhere.

Also I’m guessing that last bit wasn’t directed at me? I haven’t belittled anyone.
