Why do Horde races want to be in the horde?

That’s kind of a hack move still.

Irrelevant question.

Your accusation was that she made up the character of Kinndy just so we’d feel bad when she died. There’s no evidence supporting that claim. You are literally making it up and expecting people to go along with it.

Unless you were talking to Christie Golden and she told you that she made that character up just so that readers would feel bad when she died, or she said as much in an interview, you have nothing to back up your claim.

Be critical of the things she’s ‘done’ not the things your imagination attributes to her.

Then you might as well levy that to all of Warcraft. Antonidas? died in the same game he was introduced. Muradin? Suppose to have died in Warcraft 3 as well. The list of people that were created just to die is pretty big in warcraft.

I would have to agree with Tarrok on Kindy and the butler, they are essentially emotional plot points entered into the story, there is nothing in any other media that covers these characters whatsoever. Nor has their death had any other impact on the story other than affecting the readers.

Very relevant.

What else was she used for other than building up a like of the character in the reader and then laying on the tragedy when she was killed off later in the book she was created for? It’s like complaining that I said red shirts on star trek were just there to show a threat without killing a main character.

Characters can be created in books. News at 11.

You know what other character was a book character and didn’t exist prior to the book releasing? Malkorok, Garrosh’s Blackrock Orc bodyguard who was an absolute jerk. But he went on to become a key NPC during Mists of Pandaria, and even became a raid boss for us to kill in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid.

I’m all for being critical of writers, but if you’re going to be critical, you need to be critical of things that the authors have done. Not things you made up in your mind and then associate to them without any evidence supporting the claim.

Which is what I did.

You seem to think that something can’t happen unless the person doing it explicitly thinks it to themselves while doing it.

You made an accusation with no evidence and then tried to sell it.

That’s all you did, and it’s pathetic.

Creating a new character and then killing them in that same book is something the author did. It was pointless emotional baggage as nothing else has come out of these deaths.

When was the last time anduin referenced his butler in game or jaina her apprentice?

Malkrok actually served a purpose and ended up in the game BECASUSE he wasn’t killed in the same book.

And why specifically target her for that when Warcraft has been doing it long before she had any major role?

Naisha, Muradin, Antonidas. heck Sylvanas herself. All created just to die in the game they were introduced in as an emotional gut punch to the audience.

Its not hack writing if it works to tell the story you want to tell.

Tell me where my analysis of the character is wrong.

Without deflecting to the idea that you can’t tell such a thing just by reading the work.

And Kinndy literally appears in Legion Dalaran every night, and she appeared in the cinematic that plays when Alliance players bring Jaina out of Thros.

What Tarrok pushed was this idea that Christie only created the character to make the readers ‘feel bad’, and to smack the Horde with the villain bat. There’s no basis for that claim. Tarrok is making up nothing but Grade A bull crap and expecting it to fly like a sleek private jet.

Classic looks dated to about 2000, retail to 2005. Classic has an appealing and somewhat unified artstyle, however, which retail does not.

To stick with the one that’s easier to work without googling,

Yes, Sylvanas died in the game she was introduced in, but then went on (counting base and expansion together as its been a while since I played) to be an UD character who had her own story line and campaign (or campaign lite at least)

She had agency and went on to do her own thing. The apprentice was solely written to die and to make people sad. (Jaina and the reader) The death is mainly there to inspire emotion in other people, not to cap off someone else’s story, or to move any other plot point on.

Legion, 4 years after the expansion in which she died for the lead up book. Real stretch there.

But that is after the fact. None of us could have know that was what they were planning. If tommorow we suddenly have Kindy show up as a NPC for one of the elemental planes would you suddenly say she was no longer used just as an emotional guilt trip?

And even then she is the outline of the rest of the list I gave you.

And that has continued to happen both in Golden and Warcraft in general. Heck, Lirath was added just so Alleria(and later Sylvanas) would have an emotional plot point to drives Aleria Vengence/Sylvanas quest for a better afterlife.

Ok.

What does she add to the plot that none of the other characters I keep getting reminded were at Theramore would?

She was added because Golden wanted Jaina to get angry that the Horde has a future while someone so young like Kinndy does not.

Right, so she was created to be fridged.

And so were many other characters of Warcraft, in fact a great deal of them of different genders and race and not ones made by Golden.

you seem to misunderstand the term. Possibly deliberately.
