As the topic states there are various abilities that provide a key aspect of gameplay that other melee classes have baseline. I know I am not the only one who has picked up on this issue and am interested to understand and hear what others think.
Deathknights have various abilities that are locked up as a talent choice that are an essential part of gameplay provided baseline for other classes. This is essentially creating unnecessary and unwarranted bloat in the Deathknight Talent trees, all to give the false idea of a choice that is creating a flawed design methodology.
One example is melee abilities that are specifically designed to be a strike which is a spell interrupt ability. Abilities such as Pummel for Warrior, Disrupt for Demonhunters and Kick for Rogues are all baseline and then have an option in the classes talent tree that provides some additional benefit or modification to that baseline ability.
Deathknight on the other hand have to spend talent points to acquire their default class spell interrupt that being Mind Freeze.
This is a clear case of an instance that is going against Blizzards own philosophy that they have said about not creating mandatory talents for classes. This is by default creating a system that is forcing Deathknight players to have to take this talent just to get an ability that other melee have baseline which in essence is effectively making this a mandatory selection for all Deathknights to ensure they have access to a key ability that is required in all aspects of the game and not having it would be seen as a significant issue by any other player.
I know there will be those who will say what about Monks, Druids, Shamans or Druids as these don’t get a spell interrupt baseline either. However, the key difference here is that these four classes are NOT PURE MELEE they are all Hybrid which has to be taken in to account. In this instance when we are saying HYBRID it means that each of those four classes all have a Healing Spec and some even have a Spell Caster DPS Spec as well. On the other hand Deathknights are PURE MELEE which puts them in the same group as Rogues, Warriors, and Demon Hunters.
Essentially Mind Freeze should be baseline for all Deathknights and having it in the Talent tree is creating the flawed design methodology that Blizzard has said they were trying to prevent in Dragonflight.
Curious what others think and also what other Talents could be considered to be in the same boat within the DeathKnight Talent Trees?
