Why did the Alliance attack the Vulpera?

You’re right I actually want the Alliance to be more forthright dark because the Horde always gets demonized. Atleast by having darker Alliance politics and actions we might have some more colorful story development such as the shade between Tyrande and Anduin atm.

I disagree actually. The Sandwalker lady goes out of her way to talk about how she doesn’t want to hurt the Vulpera. Then, you walk a few feet behind her, and its carnage. Vulpera dying, wagons burning, a huge mess. The problem isn’t necessarily with the Alliance being “morally grey”, or with there being a few bad apples within the Alliance military. The problem is that there is a huge disparity between the quest given to our character, and what the NPC’s are doing. The Shaman looks ridiculous and stupid, the Despoilers look over the top evil, and I’m left scratching my head, not knowing what to make of it. Its a very inconsistent presentation, and I don’t think it was well written at all.

Objectively the Horde has had a lot of great heroes and villains. The Alliance is polished as a pinnacle of false piousness. At the very least the Horde recognizes the “human-ness” of races.

Which is the very reason the Nightborne didn’t join the Night Elves, because they are the most xenophobic. The Horde showed compassion for the addication they had.

The Alliance doesn’t take those in need that may be less than they are.

Yeah, it’s fairly obvious that by scaring the vulpera off, I’m rescuing them from my own faction.

I also want to know why I’m burning valuable Horde supplies that could be confiscated for Alliance use.

because we are a bunch of pyromaniacs kids like the horde, apparently.

yeah… it really seems like a random moment to make the alliance act out of character to justify the horde somehow.

I found Sandwalker referring Vulpera as “little fox people” really funny because it’s clear she never interacted with Nisha or her caravan before. But that’s probably expected since you only interact and get to know them on Horde side and can be deadly. I think Alliance just underestimated them and thought them as some harmless creatures.

Leaving aside how kookoo for coco puffs worgen and void elves may or may not be…

The Alliance ABSOLUTELY takes in monsters rejected by the rest of society who may have trouble fitting in.

Apparently it’s a thing now.

The worgen bring muscle, the void elves bring a weapon against the holy power of the Blood Elves. None of the Alliance races are weak by societal standards.

Its a little more complicated than that. The nighteborne did join sides with the legion. Besides that, the current NE society is basically a flat out rejection of the arrogant, reckless, ivory tower type NE society that existed in the War of the Ancients. The very same society that first brought the legion to Azeroth.

The Nightborne are basically a copy of that old society. They represent what the NE WERE at the height of their Empire. Blood elves too, to a much lesser intent. Blood elves were part of the higheborne society that helped summon the legion, but realized that Azshara/legion has gone too far and sided with the defenders.

Also, instead of fighting the Legion in the first war, the Nightborn decided to hide in a bubble, leaving the NE to their fate. Even the Blood elves ancestors helped fight the legion.

Orcs- World destroyed because of Legion corruption that followed the Draenei, and later enslaved by the Alliance.
Trolls - Were getting slaughtered on their own island, and the Night Elves historically hated them.
Undead - Tried to return to their family but were slaughtered by their own kind as monsters.
Tauren - Were getting mowed down by Centaur and Alliance alike.
Blood Elves - Near the brink of extinction because of a former Alliance leader.
Goblins - Attacked by Alliance while fleeing Kazan because they were trying to kill Thrall
Pandaren - The alliance were enslaving unallied pandaren
Nightborne - Deals with the Legion and internal struggles
Mag’har Orcs - Lost their world again to the Draenei
Zandalari Trolls - Internal struggles and the Alliance kills their king

The only one that hasn’t has catastrophic issues was the High Mountain Tauren, and they were dealt a crappy hand.

Orcs- Proceeded to rampage through Azeroth slaughtering all in their way. Upon their defeat, were spared their rightful sentence of Death and were placed into camps and were being studied to see if they could be rehabilitated. A corrupt noble would eventually turn them into labor camps and commit the crime of creating Thrall.
Trolls - One of many Troll Tribes. Were originally attacked by “rampaging Murlocs” and were saved by Thrall. Suffered from guilt by association to a race of murderous aliens.
Undead - Turned on and slaughtered the Remaining Alliance Forces in Lordaeron after the defeat of the Scourge in Lordaeron.
Tauren - Literally had no real contact with the Alliance until joining Thrall and the Horde after being save from the Centaurs. Have since been bound by and oath of loyalty to a faction that has done nothing but trample beliefs that drive them.
Blood Elves - Has been nearly wiped out by 3 of the original 4 Horde Races
Goblins - Eh, we should have tried harder
Pandaren - The alliance were enslaving unallied pandaren - Mirrored for the Alliance because reasons. “Something Something Sha”. Jade Forest, while a pretty zone, can barely be considered cannon.
Nightborne - 6 months of character development flushed down the drain in a 30 minute scenario. Literally freed themselves from the shackles of one tyrant to willing serve the next.
Mag’har Orcs - With the piles of bodies of sacrificed Frost Wolves (the irony) and Draenei used to fuel the Dark Portal so they could go and conquer another world because they could, they had it coming. I’m not sure Blizzard will ever be able to garner sympathy for Orcs.
Zandalari Trolls - The Original Maser Race of Azeroth. Thousands of years of attempting to subjugate the world in one manner or another has finally come back to haunt them.

Your list holds merit, but the races of the Horde are hardly blameless. Some suffer from “wrong place, wrong time” such as the Darkspear, but other races, like both flavors of Orc, have proven time and time again to be one of the most reliable villains in the Warcraft Universe.

I believe in in-game text states that the Vulpera are transporting supplies for the Horde. That’s all.

The Alliance isn’t trying to eradicate them, they just want to disrupt the trade caravans.

Going from “Hey are those little fox things chatting with the horde” to “BY FIRE BE PURGED” or whatever their lines are in a single step isn’t even in established horde territory, let alone alliance. It’s a random, overbearing, backhanded attempt to drive the vulpera to the horde rather than have the horde do a single good thing, just for the sake of doing the good thing, to earn their loyalty.

The Alliance leaders attack the Vulpera yet do their best to keep the Alliance Player’s hands clean… Wonder if it’s because the Player killed the lady who negotiated with the Blood Trolls?..

If Shaw were to tell the Player to start purging Vulpera the Player would team up with Brann and kill him for that! Shaw is playing it safe by keeping the Player out of the loop. The Player already showed where he stood when he killed the girl who was negotiating with Blood Trolls so Shaw has no choice but to keep the Player out of the loop.

Wonder if the Horde will end up doing an equally impulsive purging of Sethrak at the orders of one racist Vulpera to gain them as an Allied Race?..

Once the Vulpera are fully in the Horde and attacking Sethrak the Alliance spies can easily be convinced that the Sethrak are a good choice for allies despite them fighting the Alliance in the warfronts. Of course by then we might be seeing Tyrande and Shandris reacting violently to Saurfang’s release by Anduin making their “kill anyone remotely related to Horde” opinion moot.

i wouldn’t i would say vulpera is now on the menu and eat them all. within a few hours the vulpera would be extinct

The Player issues missions to Brann from the command table so anything that the Player did would be more likely to be discovered by Brann and he reacted badly to the lady negotiating with Blood Trolls so…

The only way the Player would be killing Vulpera would be after Tyrande has started her civil war over Saurfang’s release.

i would simply tell brann he can bugger off because im hungry and im gonna eat all of the vulperans until they are all gone
