Well that’s true.
Outside of raiding I liked the warlock trees where I could just pick all the dot-buffing talents. It was really cool. I don’t know of the other classes but I do dislike in the current system for warlocks I can’t pick the three cool dot talents cuz they’re all on the same row
I’m not sure if you used the same talent tree I did back then, because the old talents were far far more cookie cutter than the current ones.
With the old system it was 90% filler with the other 10% being core class abilities you had to choose otherwise you’re very severely gimping your class.
The filler didn’t even offer play style differences. It was either “pick these specific filler talents or your class will suck”
The current talent system provides actual play style variation. I can drastically change up my rotation and how I play my class with the current talent system, while with the old one it allowed me to choose between…3% crit or 3% haste. That’s not nearly as impactful as changing up my entire rotation as the current talents do.
I wish they wouldn’t put all similar talents in the same rows.
For me there are great dot talents but it’d be great if they were in three separate tiers so I could make my talents around a dot build.
People wouldn’t be complaining about this if the classes were balanced and the content was fun.
Because, they didn’t like the whole, using a cookie cutter talent set up, so they replaced it by making more cookie cutter talent set ups.
That the problem. They said so. Excuse like cheese varieties. There plenty of them. Most of just cheese. Did you know there were people in game that had no clue what talents to use or the go to builds? I played the game 5 years, did raids, dungeon an other stuff based on build I like. No one complained at all. It was never a issue intel developers made it a issue. Then the sheep jump on band wagon. saying you had to have this or that build. Guess what I still do my own thing. Guilds still never say anything but it. Skill trumps everything.
They said they wanted to create more meaningful choices instead of everyone being 7/31/13 or w/e and all the same
now we are all the same with less choices like being a frostfire mage or half tank half dps.
There was a interesting priest build I had. Can’t remember what all went into it. But it was 14/17/20 and fun as all he’ll. So miss it.
here it was. so much a noob back then. still funny

Given the complaints at the time Blizzard was spending an insane amount of time re balancing every single patch I guess it made since to them to do away with hybrid trees. I will admit one thing logging in after having that and getting the current system was very confusing.
Right now they think this works until they change their minds again.
Not saying you’re wrong, only that this late to the party, I doubt they care to return Talent Tree’s or the Skills they removed.
So they could make the game cheaper is why all that stuff was removed, to include flying in its current state. Less coding to be done.
A lot of people wish for a lot of things about the game…but you know…sometimes it just doesn’t happen.
Personally I wish they would just keep the factions balanced and not give the alliance free rewards out the wazoo, but you know…it is what it is I guess.
Because the game as it was in legion wouldn’t work well on most mobile phones.
Pruning after MoP made a little sense to me then. There was some legit button bloat at the time. But 3 expansions worth of pruning later, it has gone completely overboard. Specs feel more bare and basic than they have since vanilla. Class design is moving backwards. Its so lazy and half-a$$ed that the only legit explanation I can come up with is this…
Less buttons = easier to port to consoles and mobile.
I really hope that isn’t the case.
Game has gotten increasingly worse with lower sub numbers since they removed them. Pretty strong evidence that doing so was a mistake.
You misspelled mobile/phone gaming.
All this rage! Its really hard to move it to consoles or mobile without some pruning rolls eyes
They used to do this.
Class design has never been better
