Why Covenants should be difficult to swap

To 5 man Mythic Sylvanas, DUHHH!!!

If it helps, I’m pretty dang casual, and I am 800% against this locked in crap. I don’t trust the devs to balance the tank specs, let alone balance this tangled ball of yarn they’re working on.
Edit; if it’s pretty, but unfun and clunky and doesn’t add to my gameplay, I won’t choose it. I want to have fun, and right now I expect to have to choose between pretty and functional. That’s a terrible choice.

Too bad every Venthyr DK will be better than every Kyrian DK.

Every single one.

Because the Venthyr ones have mobility, and the Kyrian ones don’t.

Any Kyrian DK is therefore a noob, for not covering their class’ biggest weakness.

Also, anyone can do death magic now, even Rogues. Cool necromantic magic there, fellow Demon Hunter! Nice blood teleport, hunter over there! Paladins can use void magic all the time, hooray!

I only lol’d because my paladin is an engineer, she’d just be a walking time-bomb :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s definitely a lot of casual players against it, my guess is that since a lot of casuals don’t care about min/maxing and may really enjoy the RPG element of the game the idea of a Covenant that they commit to and is ‘theirs’ so to speak is likely very tempting. Obviously this wouldn’t apply to everyone and even some hardcore players like the idea of locked-in Covenants.

Knowing Blizzards track record of nerfing instead of buffing will ultimately lead to Covenants going from best to worst rather quickly and I’m concerned that the difference will be enough to warrant changing. If they are dead set on the current approach I hope they meet us halfway and allow us to pick an additional Covenant each major patch so by the end of the Expansion we will have all 4.

If they end up taking the approach of allowing us to level up each Covenant with increasing experience requirement this would also open up the possibility of additional Covenants later in the expansion, this could have so much potential for the game to give us even more options and variety as their current design would not allow this without causing a whole lot of drama. All locking us into a single Covenant does is limit the game in the end.

I would love to see a whole UI built around Covenants that would allow us to swap between them and their subclass style trees, this would give us so much freedom in choosing what we want for the activity we’re going to do. This would also take away player stress in hoping they pick the right Covenants and the fear their choice may not be the best come raid release or it’ll get nerfed. I’ve always been a fan of Destiny 2’s Subclasses and how we can freely switch between them anywhere and anytime for free outside Nightfall runs

Frankly, I’d feel much better if you were suddenly promoted to lead on the project. Not much I read there I didn’t like or couldn’t work with.
That’s more or less what I was hoping we’d be looking forward to.

Well said. Blizzard is the cause of the issues they are “fixing”. It’s tiring hearing blizzard tell us they will do better, then they don’t. For example, we months left in BFA and they have just basically giving up. How about a numbers pass here for the bottom specs? How hard could that possibly be?
