I agree with you, and I think ALL mounts past, present, and future would be able to fly.
For players who enjoy the experience of riding on the ground, the good news that there is nothing is stoping them from riding on the ground to their hearts content. However, players who prefer to fly everywhere are loosing out on flying functionality for ALL the mounts they own.
