Why Classic WoW and not EverQuest?

Just a thought. Why pick the former over the latter if you’re looking for what has been dubbed a “Real MMO”? EQ has always been super hardcore, contains a lot more RPG elements, and forces socialization to the degree that Vanilla WoW never came close to. Many folks never even reached max level in that game.

I’d say most people played WoW in 04 because of their familiarization with the lore of Warcraft 1-3. Everquest has no such world we were invested in.

There’s always P99 if that’s your sort of thing. Lots of people still playing it.

I actually did play that for a bit but left after learning of the corruption going on with the folks who ran it behind the scenes. I didn’t want to reach the higher end of that game only to find out I could be “mysteriously disconnected” if I pissed off the wrong people, lols.

I’ve not played Everquest, but a lot of what I’ve heard of it suggests I wouldn’t care a great deal for it unless I could convince a number of people to play with me.

Though I’m under no illusions about Vanilla being some kind of super hardcore MMO either. Some aspects are harder than modern WoW, but for those aspects being harder than modern WoW isn’t an achievement of any kind.

Yeah that’s how every private server experience is though sadly. There’s always something shady going on.

Nah I keep having problems quoting people so I delete my post, I get stuff garbled up and the post looks funny. I undeleted it now though.

ah i dont recognize either of your characters names but i played eq from its inception till like…it was sometime after planes of power, on quellious server. and i also play p99. still fun as ever.

i’m personally more excited for classic. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

When I last played p99 I think it was about 6 months before they added Velious. I remember trying to go back to check it out once and having problems getting the game running, never went out of my way to fix it.
