Why can't Void Elves have Green Eyes?

No, they are not a different “race”. And if anyone needs to talk about being boldly wrong, its you. As per the draenei heritage, the draenei/Man’ari and even the Broken have effectively taken back the word Eredar to refer to themselves as one people. Effectively the “race” is now eredar.

The people of Azeroth are not that interested in “biology” when it comes to their definition of “race”. And considering the term of “race” isn’t even abou it(considering we are still one species even if we use race as some sort of identifier) its actually even more accurate to say that the elven people are one species and are not biologically distinct enough to be considering different. Even if magic is involved.

In comic book terms, even though Spider-Man has some spider DNA and spider powers, he is in fact, still considered human.

Just like elves arent trolls, the void elves are a different race of elves compared to night elves and blood elves, just deal with it and go do your fanfic in the RP forum.

“Demon” is not a “race” into itself. The Dreadlord are all nathrezim(which is what their “race” is). That doesn’t mean they are all demons. Your point feels as feeble as your brain.

This is just the lore as it is presented. The void and blood and high elves are one people again, they are not a different “race”. In the same vein a Stormwind human and a Kul Tiran are ultimately the same “species” even though the game treats them as different races.

No - you’re talking about the Original Void Elves who followed Umbric and got into the "accident”. They’re the race that have the Purple color skin tones. Since then - we’ve also got Blood Elves and even High Elves (They didn’t want Fel but were OK with Void I guess) who wanted to “Learn The Void”. These are exact same Blood Elves (who wanted to join the Alliance) and High Elves (who were already in The Alliance) - just categorized under the “Void Elves” section in the Character Creation Screen. They have absolutely no mutations and even the Void Tentacles i hair is optional. So they can actually have Fel Green eyes. The fact they don’t have it is just for Gameplay reasons so Blood Elves can have some unique customizations

Be Void Elves:

  • Be indistinguishable from high and blood elves
  • Have actual immediate family members who are split between high, void, and blood

Indeed :people_hugging: I’d wager the response would have been more insults and foaming at the mouth anyway, not to mention, arguing with a fool proves there’s two.

But going back to your original question, there really is no reason void elves can’t have green eyes in lore. In fact, there’s one in Telogrus that has the green blood elf eyes still:

At this point, I’m assuming the green eyes were meant to maintain a difference between the two, but that line has eroded significantly over the years, especially with the inclusion of the demon hunter class and the new shared eye options across all DH races. I won’t be surprised if green eyes for void elves come in the future when the big customization overhaul happens… though I haven’t seen much demand for it either.

there is, and it was already presented, when they mutated into another race, the void energy overwrite the fel taint the blood elves had, similar to how some blood elves got gold eyes. For void elves to get green eyes again there would be need more fel exposure to get a similar reaction, which they did not, unless you are a DH. This is the “lore answer”

This is also a reason that i already have said, otherwise void elves would have all blood elf customization on top of having their own void elf customization, making them 2 races in one, while getting more stuff than the original race they are copying.

There certainly isn’t an established reason why Void Elves specifically cannot have green (fel) eyes.

At some point, the developers need to decide if they’re going to allow the visual identity of Void Elves to flourish or be perpetually muddied by caving in to requests to effectively make them Alliance-aligned Blood Elves.

If they were “caving in to requests” why wouldn’t they just make a seperate High Elf allied race without the blueberry transformations that people want! As a high elf enjoyer (or at least i was, post-midnight I think all elves are equally boring) I actually quit the game for 10 years when Velves were announced!

But I agree that they’ve really screwed with both Blood Elf and Void Elves by giving them both blue eyes. For Void Elves it makes sense now that they rebranded Void to dark blue, but seeing Blood Elves with blue eyes is just bizarre. Gold was fine, blue erases their period in history.

Because once you reach the point your hair is growing tentacles there’s not much room left in your system for anything except void magic. Velves had a massive dose of void magic shot right into their veins. Its overwhelmed the Velf biology. You’d need an equally potent dose of fel magic to get the green eye look again…maybe an even more potent dose.

No they’re not. Once magic has infused your biology to the point it is altering it to such extreme levels (i.e. tentacles in the hair) you’re officially an offshoot. Just like how Dark Irons aren’t really the same species of dwarf as a Bronzebeard. They’re both legally and culturally Dwarves, but Dark Irons now breed true and produce glowy eyes and fireblood offspring now.

Velves should theoretically be the same and their offspring will have a load of tentacles and stuff.

And yes, Dwarves can crossbreed. So can Velves and Helves and Belves too most likely. But on Azeroth that doesnt mean jack. Humans and Orcs crossbred and they evolved on entirely different worlds. Same with Orcs and Draenei.

Theoretically a Gnome and an Orc could crossbreed, leading to a 3 foot green midget with naturally hot pink hair screaming LOK’TAR OGAR in that high pitched Gnome voice while it charges at you across the field.

I really want that in a cinematic now.

That really should have ended any question if green eyes are possible. But, people will be people.

That aside, I find it really funny how sure so many people are about what qualifies as a ‘race’ in the Warcraft universe. In the real world race is basically a scientifically meaningless word. Even species doesn’t have a clear definition. Mix in magic wells changing whole populations, demigods reshaping people, magic mutations, machines turned into flesh, etc. and it being a fictional world with no real definition for either word ever defined by the writers. Using those undefined terms to argue green eye options is really silly.

Why would a Void elf want green eyes anyway? If they really wanted green eyes, they could stop using the Void and start using Fel.

Having Fel-green eyes for Void Elves is something I think that should ONLY be allowed for Warlocks and Demon Hunters :upside_down_face: … Other than that though, no.

:face_exhaling: Truthfully, it was :100: PERCENT a mistake for Blizzard to give the option to remove all traces of the void via customisation on the race of ‘Void Elves’ to begin with.

I’ll go a step further and say Void Elves in general were a mistake, but here we are. May as well make lemonade out of lemons, and with Midnight making it clear the elves have reunified as Blood/High/Void there’s not much reason to restrict anything at this point.
