Why can't Void Elves have Green Eyes?

Can anyone explain why Void Elves, who are former Blood Elves, don’t have green eye customization available to them???

(Doesn’t apply to Demon Hunters of course)

Lorewise, there is no reason.

My guess? When Void Elves first came out, Blizzard didn’t want them to share anything with Blood Elves other than the model itself.

There is no reason. They are the same race.

When it comes down to Fel with Void Elves I guess blizzard didn’t want Void Elves to have Blood Elf green eyes but they kept the fel glowly eyes only for demon hunters. Odd isn’t it.

The Void within them purged them of the Fel.

Is that an explanation somewhere or just nonsense you came up with? Also why do Void Elf Demon Hunters have green eyes then?

Considering Blizzard basically created Void Elves out of thin air, its pretty ironic. At first they apparently wanted them to be completely distinct from Blood Elves, but now they keep pushing them into the story and treating them like one of the most important races ever created. It almost feels like Blizzard wants to convince us that making Void Elves was a brilliant decision and we just have to accept it…

Because the void mutation change their bodies and overwrote the fel taint they had

You can make a point that if some void elves start sucking fel magic to a point it overwrite their void mutation they would be green, but again any race would have fel green eyes at this point, and blood elves need at least some unique customizations since void elves got most of them

This is obviouslly false, they are different races of elves

I dunno if you’re being sarcastic here(which I suspect you are), but no, they’re not. It’s not even been an entire generation that decided to start guzzling down Void-juice instead of Fel-juice. There hasn’t even been enough time for them to have a new generation of babies to figure out if they’ve been warped by sippin’ on Void-juice.

Mutations ain’t the same thing as evolving. Just because they’ve switched from drinking purple-colored-irradiants from green-colored-irradiants isn’t enough to factor them in as a “different race(s) of elves”.

They’re still, functionally, the same race as the Sin’dorei. Which, again, is functionally, the same race as the Quel’dorei, regardless of what irradiated slushy they pick up at their local 7/11.

Its not being sarcastic, void elves mutated from the void, that is the whole point of the race, the ritual that changed their bodies and make them have different racials and traits like tentacle hair

They are a different race of thallasian elves, same way nightborn are a different race of kaldorei.

Again, that’s a mutation, not an inferred evolutionary change of the entire race. I do wanna point out, that like I said in my last post, we haven’t really seen a lot of if their children are also mutated in the same way they are - but even then, it’s not so much a “different” race.

Despite all the bluster that happens within the X-men comics; they’re never truly a different “race”. They’re humans that have a mutation, but aren’t reclassified into X, Y, or Z “races”. Similarly, Void Elves are Quel’dorei elves, with a mutation. They’re mutated Quel’dorei elves.

What that means for their kids, we haven’t seen yet. But no, a bunch of adults deciding to drink the mutagen doesn’t effectively mean they’ve now “transcended” to being a different species or genus, or again, race.

Now when said babies are tadpoles that turn into Naga, that’ll be a bit of a different story.

so you think satyrs arent a different race because they are just night elves mutated by a curse?

Mutations are what happens to species for there to be new species, the gist is how much the mutation will change the species to be considered another species.

In the case of elves, yeah, another species

Direct transformation, like Xavius, into something else, is akin to what I was saying earlier with Queen Azshara’s Naga. Naga have Naga babies. You don’t see them give birth to little Night Elves. They give birth to little Naga.

Now, I do realize we’re sort of splitting hairs here, since magic isn’t real in the world we live in, and that’s not how species or taxification or races work, and I do concede that - that we’re in that realm of fiction, where there isn’t really a real-world equivalent.

I’m mostly trying to say that since we haven’t seen what their kids look like, or if, indeed, there is a real difference in what their kids look like, as apposed, to what a random Sin’dorei or Quel’dorei infant looks like, I’m hesitant to caption all Ren’dorei babies born from two Ren’dorei parents as being different than any other Sin’dorei or Quel’dorei baby.

And AGAIN, I could even be completely wrong with all of this, since we haven’t seen any Void Elf couples have a Void Elf baby. But from the OUTSET, I don’t know if we’ve seen enough evidence that suggests they’re the same as the Satyr or Naga, who were both explicitly changed, even when it comes down to their DNA.

But…that is what happened to the void elves, they were caught in the ritual that almost made them etherals, they just look like elves, but that is essentially a shell.

Sure, when you have the kids showing up is more proof to the point, but you dont essentially need to see them to infer that with the information we already have

Fair enough. I think I probably misplaced this information in my own head because I forgot just how convoluted the entire mess was in regards to Blizzard giving Alliance Blood Elves, essentially.

The sheer loopholes needed to make this whole thing work; I mean, they probably should’ve just given them High Elves. I would’ve preferred if this whole Elven strain had just been Horde-only, but since that wasn’t an option, I totally stored away how ridiculous it is to make Void Elves work with the story.

And they’re the “B” plot of this entire expansion. Gimme a break.

In Mechagon there’s a Void Elf father who has a child we assume he’s regular Thalassian. So far no indication that a Void Elf child would look like something completely different save maybe being blueish/purple skin, but so far we can assume they’d be the same skin tones of their parents, but even the child that looks Voidy would only appear more or less like a throwback skin tone of their ancestral Kaldorei ancestor cause those hues funny enough look awfully Night Elf. That said. We can assume Thalassian children born of Void Elves would look Thalassian, same if they’re from Blood/High Elven progeny.

Void Elves should absolutely get green eyes, but this thread is also reminding me that Blizzard is leaving a ridiculously good Demon Hunter visual on the table by not giving them a proper Hellfire look. :exploding_head:

I’m sorry, but Void + Fel is way too good of a color combo to still mostly be a Warlock flex. That purple/green contrast looks incredible, and DHs are right there as the class that should be allowed to look like an unstable magical OSHA violation. Blood Elf DHs already have the fel corruption, the glowing tattoos, the whole “several terrible arcane life choices were made here” class fantasy — you cannot tell me they weren’t built to look like a beautiful containment breach.

I still keep my DH on green eyes + glowing green tattoos for exactly that reason, and the only thing stopping me from going harder into a void-heavy look is that the customization support just kind of gives up halfway through the bit. The second DHs get a real fel-green / void-purple-blue mix, it’s over. I’m gone. Spiritually evicted.

So yes, give Void Elves green eyes.

But also let Demon Hunters look like they ate a Naaru, bit a Dreadlord, and crawled out of the explosion feeling better about themselves, with a new transmog set.

My dude, that child was obviously born before his father turn into a void elf, taking account when the expansion happened

Like, lmao, its not even a year(if you mean the BFA zone and not an update one from midnight)

That is like saying Man’ari and Draenei are different race. Ultimately Danuser’s old explanation is still the best way to explain “race” in WoW.

Does Alleria still consider herself a high elf? Can one be both a high elf and a void elf?

Characters in Azeroth don’t think in terms of customization options or gameplay choices.
Alleria is a child of Quel’Thalas and a solider of the Alliance. She returned after 1000 years to find most of her surviving kin switched political affiliation. Didn’t change who she is.-Steve Danuser

As for the main topic, the only reason is because Blizzard still wanted some distinction between void elves/blood elves but honestly I am hoping they break those distinctions further.

Yes its like that, because they indeed are. Man’ari are full on demons, a completely different race while draeneis arent.

Incredible how wrong you are and still talked this boldly

Can be throw under the trash just like him, since no one is interest in his writing or what you assume and made up with his explanation, since he is clearly talking about what she feel, not her actual biology
