Why can't i opt out of warcraft logs?

IRL things to do? my guy you acting like 30 min (which I highly doubt you’re doing) and saying ppl like me? cause I pug? you’re a clown

You don’t have to be mad, it’s only a game.
A game you’re pretty bad at. That’s fine, but you don’t have to take it out on randoms on the forums who are better than you.

LookingForRaid (LFR) Was made for players like you lol. They should add LFR to SoD tbh I bet it would fix all your issues

WCL is a website that’s third party but it does not influence the game in any way shape or form. It’s essentially a spread sheet of the data that is provided via Blizzard in-game combat log chat. Logs are not third party. They are made and hosted by Blizzard themselves. I am unsure if you’ve ever personally logged yourself.

The add on argument is true though. Some addons are bannable when they manipulate the warden systems or mess with game files in a way that intrudes data. WCL is not an addon

if WCL is so good why do people need to report to it?
it should either work or not, not need to be fed info manually.
WCLs has 20 kills registered on my main from BFD phase 1, where’s the other 90% of the kills lmfao

That reminds me, I need to claim my characters.

You can opt out. It’s called not playing WoW.

If you go back and check the topics posted by the most chronic incessant whiners, you’ll find they all are GDKPers that are upsetti spaghettis.

it is very accurate lol

you are correct but also very small minority. as long as they follow blizzards rules then they will remain as they are. after all in reality all it does is translate info that already exists into a usable format.

I absolutely agree, you should be able to opt out of another player logging your runs against your wishes

It’s the same reason why Raider IO, Gear Score or similar mechanisms are offensive to me - distilling people down to a number makes it easy to discriminate without knowing anything more than a number. And once you have a number that can be used to quantify you, it ceases to have meaning as people will find ways to game the system.

WCL is a website that’s third party but it does not influence the game in any way shape or form.

Just to be pedantic - WCL does influence the game, as people feel the need to gatekeep.
It does not, however, interact with the game client or world beyond the export of combat logs.

Blizzard needs to ban Logging…not only does it create a cancerous culture of toxicity but it also fuels RMT. People want to get higher parses so they are more likely to buy expensive gear and consumables they normally wouldn’t think of getting.

It’s time blizzard step it up and remove logging from the game, no one likes it except the sweaty try hards who like to belittle other people because they have so little going on in their lives that parsing is the only place they can glean a false sense of pride.

You don’t use an add-on to log.

Blizzard could easily add an option that would not include your name in other people’s combat log if they wanted.

No constructive reason for player performance data to ever be available to any other player for any reason whatsoever. Personal logging and parsing? Fine, go to town.

Most of you don’t seem to understand how it works there is no add-on to use the thing you use is literally built into the game.

You enable live logging inside the game and what that does is create your combat log into a document that’s readable, it basically turns everything everyone does in the raid into a notepad document.

That notepad document is saved on your PC which is literally done BY WOW, then you upload that document into logs and logs turns it into what we see on the WCL page.

There is no addon, it’s literally a feature of wow itself.

Hit escape in game go to system and find enable live logging.

I think the same thing for people that obsesse over KDA in shooters.

Like are you try harding in every round? Do you sometimes play drunk, or with lower skill friends or different game varients.

If you could opt out of logs, you should have to do it before the run though.

You can opt out of logs.

You can’t opt out of having the game turn the combat data into readable data tho.

This is LITERALLY built into the game.

exactly, this is a player-to-player problem on both ends. I wouldnt call it gatekeeping as noone is preventing anyone from doing Gnomer, rather, its good players not wanting to carry bad players. a good example of gatekeeping is pushing r1 in retail in 3s. the community is so small and tight niche’ that if you don’t interact and know them or have them all added on bnet you virtually cannot have access to r1 even if you are better than them = this is gate keeping bc of the ratio/%. This doesn’t happen in PvE unless youre gatekeeping world first titles etc
