Preservation is to my opinion the most complete healing spec of all classes.
Still need to try monk and retry priest though, but been playing preserv, druid, a bit of shaman and paly and so far evoker is just awesome. Every single healing abilities has something special that makes you want to use them. The talent tree itself is almost flawless. Never enjoyed so much healing pvp and raids than now with evoker.
It’s so sad that this feeling is almost unexistant when i swap to devastation
Very disapointing. Hope Blizz eventually change something. I just dont know what!
It is currently functional, but compared to other classes it’s highly unimpressive as a dps class, especially concerning the talent tree.
Where all the other classes seem to have talent trees that make them cooler and better, devastation evoker have a talent tree that seems to be aimed at making them simply more functional in some areas, and at great cost to other areas.
Want to be a better healer? Well, it’s gonna cost you movement utilities. Want better single target? Kiss your aoe pump goodbye.
And the final talents are a joke. A single, 3 second stun? An extra hover? A weak aoe defensive?
And that’s on the left side. On the right the final choices are bland perks rather than the monster final talent most classes seem to be enjoying from their shadowlands glory days.
And we won’t even talk about the mastery…
The class needs a lot of work. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but that’s despite its flaws.
They intentionally made it so our burst phase is clipping every single ability to get empowerments off CD faster, to keep clipping for our giant killer mastery. It feels so bad.
I sincerely think that the only change they need to make for Devastation to become a reallllllly interesting spec to play is to add Echo to Dev as well, perhaps with a 30 - 45 second cooldown, provides 100% Mastery bonus, and doesn’t work on Empowered spells.
This would open up a lot of very interesting burst options. Synergy with empowered spells could come from having a 10% per empowered rank to activate Echo at 50% power. Thus rewarding liberal use of maxed out empowered spells.
The devs have literally 0 brain cells when it comes to class design, balance, and changes. Preservation will always be better because the devs don’t play any of their classes. At best they’re as productive as reddit mods.
Oh come on. Dev is doing amazing right now. Today’s warcraftlogs data shows Dev at #1 damage overall for all bosses on mythic. I’m sorry you’re not enjoying the class, but put more effort into itemizing and gearing and properly learning the ins and outs of the class and you can demolish meters. Post some logs and the community can show you how to improve.
My issue with Devoker isnt about dps or being top, it’s about gameplay. I just dont enjoy the gameplay as much as Pevoker. Many other dps are more fun to play than this to my own taste. Or many other classes has at least 2 specs i enjoy. Not much can be done on this matter. Will have to wait for major changes in future expansions
Well every spec is subjective, what don’t you like about it? I personally find extending dragonrage as long as possible very engaging gameplay, race every 2 minutes to get as much off as you possibly can. Also greatly enjoy how active you must be if you want to do well in dungeons. I enjoy counting targets and empowering to the appropriate level, also watching target hp and making sure the highest is my primary target, unless of course there’s something like a healer in the pack. Getting the most from firebreath by getting as close as possible to the dot ending as they die to not waste any ticks. I suppose I can see how spamming azure strike is not the most interesting filler, but most classes filler isn’t really designed to be jaw-dropping.
Yeah appart from Dragon Rage i think it’s missing a new element to feel different from other dps specs. Its missing a “Oh Wow” a bit like warlocks that spams a bunch of demons or rogues that burst out of shadow. But not sure what. Maybe echo? Echo is pretty unique to evoker as you can cast it on a couple on ally and replicate next spell. Why they didnt implement it to devastation ? That would be something nice to do outside dragon rage. Cast echo on 2 or 3 enemies and your next living flame affect all those?
the way you fix Devo wont happen this expansion. It needs to be unique… a melee caster.
Think survival changes in Legion. Flat out just say, this is a magic int based caster, who is in melee range.
Scrap the following abilities for Devo.
Living flame
Disintegrate
Deep Breath
Change the following abilities for Devo.
Firestorm is now an area effect around Evoker, like Boomkin Stars. Double range.
Fire Breath shoots up in the air and hits around the target OR the dracthyr. instant cast no empowerment.
Eternity surge is now area effect around Evoker. Empowering eternity surge adds charges to the spell, 1 target gets 8 charges, 8 targets get 1 charge and so on. Over time ofcourse.
Dragonrage is a 1minute 30second cooldown, Now increases rate of all area effect spell tick rates.
Talent after Dragons rage to offer an echo option passively to the dragon rage effects, mimicing the spells used on the target during dragons rage.
Azurestrikes now cleaves all targets surrounding the target. 2 essence cost.
Shattering star, Rework ability to be a Physical ability called Slash and do area of effect to increase damage. 2 Minute CD.
Add the following abilities to Devo.
Claw, primary generator. 1 slash = 1 essence, 50% chance to give 1 extra essence.
Deafen, Flap your wings so hard all active spells being cast are silenced for 8seconds.
Dragon Rush, Charge to target, activating Firestorm.
Dragon Fury, Use Magically infused claws to slash rapidly at the target for 3seconds (channel). 5 Essence.
Armor of the Dracthyr, Passive for devo only to Reduce all damage done to the Dracthyr by 20%.
Bug issues and clunky design. Glaring issues with being channel focused and shorter range while being a mail class that is squishier than leather and most cloth wearers. Talent trees need some major love with all the less rng proc dependent talents. Comb through these forums and you will find a great deal of possible solutions that the spec would greatly benefit from.
Some examples I can think off is disintegrate not consuming all three essence at cast instead consumes on damage procs. Hover off gcd and it shouldn’t interupt non-empoweref abilities. Some damage reduction during deep breath is soar-ly needed. If outlaws get it while teleporting it would make a lot of sense for us flying above to get the same. Really there should be a lot of ground stuff that shouldn’t even hit us during deep breath.
