Why can people hold us hostage

Why in gods name can someone just not accept or decline your invite in group finder, and you have to sit there and wait as you see another group you could have queued up for fills, or that healer or tank you need gets picked up by someone else.

Do the developers really not play this game?

what alternatives do you propose?

An option to cancel your own invite/request to join after it’s sent.

You should be able to just keep joining groups or at least be able to cancel your own invite. It wasn’t so bad at the start of the expansion when there were groups everywhere. But now that there are far less people playing the game it’s extremely frustrating to see two groups and you get stuck in lala land as the other one fills up.

This goes for inviting someone as well.
If you have 4/5 in your group and you invite someone who was listed in LFG and they are AFK, the invite stays for the entire time and count as your 5th player until it expires.
Your only option is to wait, or convert to a raid.
Converting to a raid is a stupid work around.

You’re suggesting he do the thing he’s actively trying to do?

What sense does this make?

“Hey, are you still interested in joining my group? If so, I can toss you an invite.” It really isn’t that difficult to show common courtesy and message someone before you invite them. If you do not get a response, simply don’t invite them.

I think they do and they seem to gladly support tools that help certain players control/grief other players.

It’s part of the anti RDF culture. They want to be able to treat people like this. In retail, you also have no RDF for relevant content. Just a similar TERRIBLE tool where you apply for and get declined for any content you don’t already outgear. Only 5 applications at a time there(better than 1) but still you’ll be applying for 30-45 minutes if you’re not s healer, tank, or a dps who is full BIS.

Whisper them first

THIS. Absolutely THIS. I know when I’m sitting in there with several different raids or dungeons selected, I’d like to be at least asked before just getting a random invite, it’s…y’know, that whole social aspect that people cried about when talking about not wanting RDF.

Also sometimes I get an invite for something I didn’t even put myself in for, due to already being locked or just not wanting to do it, could easily be avoided with a simple little whisper.

If you read my post you would see that even if you form your own group you still have to wait for someone to decline in order to fill it while you sit and watch the tanks or healers get picked up by other groups

There is where Retail LFG tool shines.
The LFG we got in Wrath, though its built off of Retail one, it’s utter garbage.

Sometimes reading is hard

If I don’t get a whisper I let it linger. Just a note.

Just make it a raid group in the meantime and change it back once it auto-declines. Iirc if you are alone and sent an invite but want to join another group you can right click your portrait and leave group (just inviting someone technically starts the group even before they accept).

Remember that this is the tool the Classic devs wanted so badly for us to use that they refused to give us RDF until now. It barely functions in the role it’s meant to, has numerous bugs that it’s had since it was added, and on occasion even just stops working entirely and requires a /reload to fix

Retail LFG tool is still trash IMO.

Most DPS have to apply for 100’s of groups before getting accepted, so the limit of 5 at a time doesn’t meet the definition of “shines” in my opinion.

But it’s better. It may not be perfect, but relatively to Wrath one, yes, it shines.
It’s better from the applicant’s prospective.
And it’s netter from the lead’s prospective.

Right now, if you ONE person “requests” and whispers, I cannot invite him through whisper. I have to decline ALL 1 by 1 until I get to that one name to hit accept.

On retail, if I invite 5th person and they are AFK, and then I invite another one - party will fill and auto cancel another invite. In Wrath, you have to go through the process of converting it to Raid, invite 5th person, then have to WAIT for auto decline from AFK to convert it back to Party.

Nor can you request to join multiple runs.

And leader can see full list of applicants.

If you request to join my group without saying anything, I will ignore it and it’s your own fault.

GG.
