it all started with the removal of 10 man raiding. that is exactly where you can pinpoint on the dot with an infinite guarantee of wow’s slow and steady then free fall decline. removing 10 man raiding put many players homeless.
so many guilds ended because of it. players didnt want to start over in new guilds and the few guilds that tried to bring in more for the new 20 man mythic mode just mostly ended up breaking up because it was no longer close knit and just became toxic like the majority of large guilds.
the removal of 10 man raiding was the 1st bomb that fell in the sub decline.
Its tried and failed many times. Hell, lfr and rdf is sbout as solo as one can get. Its all automated and you really don’t have to speak to anyone. There’s crafting too. WoW already has a substantial amount of things you can do solo but yheir core philosophy has always been focusing on group content when it comes to accomplishing greater things. The average player doesn’t mind teaming up.
the game needs challenging solo content for gearing. i decided to take a break from endgame til next season and the ways you can gear in the world to progress is so mind numbing i just can’t do no more of that idk how people do it and thats all that they do.
Honestly Torghast had huge potential. It was essentially a single-player dungeon. Everyone hated it because it was done wrong, but it had the potentially to be highly successful. It was basically WOW’s implementation of Diablo, and the fact they abandoned the Torghast concept along with pet battles and personal houses was a very bad idea.
There are many factors that may have contributed to the decline in WoW’s player count.
WoW is an older game and as new games are released some players may lose interest in WoW and move on to other games.
The expansion of the free-to-play market has made it easier for players to try out new games without committing to a subscription.
The increased competition from other online games.
WoW has faced some negative publicity in recent years due to certain controversies such as the implementation of microtransactions and workplace harassment.
The game has changed numerous times over the years so I don’t get the argument that it hasn’t adapted to the times. The whole entire reason classic exists is because the game is so much different from what it was when it launched. The combat is much faster, side content like pet battles has been added, transmog collecting is it’s own little game etc.etc. But no matter how many changes you make, at the end of the day it’s still an MMORPG which just isn’t what the younger crowd is looking for.
Sounded like a good speech, but is it just all talk or does he intend to implement it? And Blizzard’s problem is not just verbal abuse or sexually harassing behavior within the workplace. If he really is serious about a less toxic Blizzard, he needs to engage the community with a team of blue posters, open up serious discussion about what’s wrong with the game, make their games more affordable for non-whales, and fix the things we’ve mentioned. It does no good if Blizzard simply makes their workplace wonderful while being toxic and abusive to their actual paying customers!
Because overwhelmingly the old guard player base felt like Arthus was the end of a chapter. Really since Arthus we haven’t fought anyone of real consequence besides maybe Queen Ashara and quite honestly she wasn’t treated with the same love and respect that Arthus was from a Dev POV.
Getting to fight Arthus meant something, like Illidan but Deathwing, Garrosh, and i
others didn’t have that charm. Queen Ashara could have if they had utilized her properly. BFA fell flat delivering anything meaningful about QA.
season 1 of league of legends launched july 2010 and league has been growing ever since
biggest esport, ever-growing media (Arcane Netflix show), new games and modes, constant updates
because there are more games out there than mmorpgs? lol. why would you think that everyone who left wow only wanted to play other mmos and didn’t discover any other game and platform that came out after 2010. 2006-2009 had pitiful console gaming options, we’re talking xbox live on 360s getting red ring of death era. you had Halo 3, black ops and that was pretty much it
minecraft, csgo, hearthstone, rocket league, BDO, overwatch, fortnite, PUBG all came out after 2010
