Why blizzard is erasing leaders? "council" philosophy

So, in other words, you want another Horde character become a villain? You are aware that these writers are low quality and overpaid for the work they do, yes?

How do you think medieval monarchs were educated?

You should go find one and when you do send us a post card. I bet it will say something like “Greetings from my imagination! Wish you were here!”

BUT if you DO find yourself imagining me, could you make me taller?

yeah everyone knows ideas like democracy were invented in 2004 by ivy league elitists

I didn’t understand most of that but ok :+1:

Counsels let them kill off leaders without having to develop whole characters to replace them.

Because they do not believe in a true leader. They believe in everyone they agree with having a voice at the table. This doesnt work IRL and shouldnt work in game.
We need good warchiefs and Kings and no councils.
Eventually the factions of the councils begin to disagree and it ends in violence again.

Just keep the war in warcraft and stop it with the touchy feely peace stuff.

The world literally moved on from absolute monarchy centuries ago

Reality is real life is boring and the people in charge of wows narrative are outright wrong. If you make me choose between the two well irl stuff sucks. And it shows as the narrative sucks in wow too

What I want to see is The Horde fork around one more time, except this time the Alliance goes scorched earth.

Anduin tries to find the path of peace as he always does and is assassinated for it. His Judas uses his death to stoke the fires of war and grab power for himself.

This leads to plenty of political maneuvering, but ultimately The Alliance declares war and begins a campaign to wipe The Horde out completely. Obviously there is a ton of back-and-forth to begin with, but I really want a moment to come where it dawns on everyone that The Horde really did only exist due to an unfathomable amount of mercy.

So there’s this whole second arc where it goes from being a war with glory to be had, to being a horror story. The living members of The Horde fall into panic and despair as they truly internalize how there is neither hope of victory nor even hope of clemency. The Alliance is filled with conflict over how necessary different parts of the war are. Some want peace. Some want more bloodshed. Some secretly set up organizations to get Horde children to safety.

There’s so much room for different and interesting stories here. You can even have external threats happen so long as there isn’t any coming together because of it. Or maybe there is. Maybe an important member of The Horde plays a key role in defeating some void threat, but instead of a softening of the faction conflict his head is cut off as soon as the void threat dies.

Ultimately this would lead to the complete dissolution of The Horde, and that would be the saga of how WoW got rid of factions.

Luckily there isn’t a history of having single leaders going poorly and resulting in countless deaths

Wait…

what about all the liberal books they read? where cheguevara was a hero of all species

Just as everyone knows democracy was widely used globally the minute it was invented

the greeks were using it in the 6th century bce. is that a period of time you normally describe as “recent” or “modern”?

We shouldn’t have a story that revolves around that lest people get the wrong idea. The wow story should revolve around strong powerful women, trans women and 2SLGBTQIAP+ acceptance.

It’s a narrative conundrum that many stories don’t even last long enough to see happen

we can only see “tyranical leader abuses his power to lead nation down a dark path” so many times before both player and story itself ask “why do we keep letting this happen?”

inversely though it creates another issue. If every faction/race eventually ends up with a council leading them, it means realistically there should never be any conflict ever again, as the voices of chaos within said councils would, logically, be outvoted by the more sane members of the councils.

Which means there are only 2 options for war to sow from “allied” factions. The remaining sole-leaders/dictators, and terroristic groups.

It’s more reflective of the real world if anything. Because the only countries that are still starting major conflicts are those that meet that criteria. Dictators or terrorists. And evidently, the writers are clearly drawing inspiration from that what with the Red Dawn (terrorists) and Gallywix (dictators)

do comments like this pass for clever in your circle of friend?

Don’t @ me bigot.
