Why are Wow characters so Goofy Looking?

It’s almost as if not every game is designed to appeal to you… so weird…

WoW def looks a bit dated when I log back on from another game, but I also don’t have to keep updating my computer to keep up w the changes. I guess there’s that

Because I’m weird

That’s because sometimes I’m an idiot. Sorry to all Greymane fans out there. I would like to point out that for some reason the Forum’s spell check Red-lines Wow character names as spelled wrong, when they are actually spelled right. So I just ignore the spelled wrong
prompt when it comes to character names.

Test it out for your self.

Warcrafts always been kinda toony and I think that works better. If you try to go too realistic, your graphics are gonna age like milk. Since we’re constantly getting better with that stuff. So it ages quickly. Something more stylized has a longer lasting ‘shelf life’ as I call it.

To be fair tho the cinematic team still does fantastic work. I’m just talking more in game stuff.

Games are fantasy. Being a hot elf is fun. It ain’t gotta be complex lol

Right? I don’t want this game to be made on some ultra photographic Unreal engine. I like the stylized feel of the graphics.

Sure older stuff, like before Legion (and some things post Legion tbh) can be janky and low rez, sure, but the style works great and harkens back to WCIII.

Why would you pick some AI generated goop?

Ok. Tell me what you think of this concept; Changing Wow character creation to a system like we had in City of Heroes. Where you could create any character you wanted to. We have that in Wow to some extent but only with the template races.

How about a create your own race character creation. Similar to City of Heroes. And COH was an old game. But it worked fine.

Eh, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m just saying that in my mind I perceive my toon differently than on the screen.

I grew up with tiny block sprites as my hero. I imagined Link from NES days as this young yet heroic warrior. WoW doesn’t have to better itself and look less cartoony.

All the characters in City of Heroes were made up of humanoids with 3 different body sized and just different heads. The races in WoW are vastly different physiologically. Not many MMOs do that and it’s part of what makes playing a different race in WoW feel so distinctive. It’s a big part of what makes the races in WoW so great…

The game being around for19 years and having once had a peak player base at over 12 million would say your guess is wrong…

Oh. I see then. I stand corrected. By your assertion. I guess that would mean most players want their characters to look like Looney Tunes wannabes. Well if that’s what people like?

Oh wait think the Wow population is now around 2 million? I wonder what that means? Oh and Everquest 1 still has servers functioning. But I don’t know anyone who plays it anymore. So who know?

Minus your subjective take on how the players characters look. Yes, obviously most players like the stylized aesthetic of the game. Those who don’t… probably play FFXIV…
