ahh yes, the famous “mount offs” people have while waiting for rares to spawn, lol.
reminds me of all the times i sit waiting for the shar of anger or corpse eater to spawn (only 2 overworld rares im farming atm, all others are raid ones) . always nice to see what other people have. on the other hand always sucks seeing somone with a mount (or transmongs) you have been farming for weeks, months or even years for
cough Kor’kron Juggernaut cough
Actually yes, because i have a lot of characters and at times i might want to change to a different tmog depending on my shift in tastes.
I think the thing is, these things do eventually get used… they just get used rarely or whenever the person who collected it, want too.
We? There’s no we here. I don’t bother collecting anything for that exact reason.
I use a lot of mounts and transmogs but I fell off on the battle pets and toys. I actually think there are too many toys and I’ve stopped even going through them to find ones I want to use.
Screw this mount, I seen it drop once ever and it was like the third run ever that I went in with someone else… yeh, f*** it.
Honestly, the only things I will never use for sure are the roach battle pets. gag Everything else, as far as pets and mounts, is on my favorites list. Transmog? Everything has the potential to be used. It is my gold sink on here. I mog too many toons too many times. If I didn’t mog so much, I probably could afford the transmog mount. I may be the minority, but I use pretty much everything I collect.
Collecting gives a sense of progression regardless. Not everyone is into raids, dungeons or pvp.
This is it for me. Collecting things and completing achievements give me goals in this game to keep me playing. I’m not as much of a hardcore completionist as some people, but achievements and such are evidence of my efforts in this game. I know that I am moving forward.

I like to keep stuff. It was so sad vendoring my season 2 spiked counterweight
I do not collect mounts , I just use the ones I like
I guess that having many objects you like feels better than having few. Simple as this.
I even collect all trinkets that summon something.
one symptom of Ebola is “loss of appetite”. severity of some symptoms don’t always speak of severity of the root cause.
I want that dang Lord of the Reins title… so close… /thread
I would definitely notice if my transmig disappeared, I rarely grind for transmog sooo I need the stuff I got man.

It’s a part of the human condition to aquire things they don’t need?

For me it is not the actual mount itself but rather the feeling of actually getting it after so many times of not seeing it drop.
The thrill of the hunt.
I don’t know exactly but it something fundamental to we humans. I see, everyday in my neighborhood, these homeless guys with shopping carts full of junk but, somehow, it is important to them.
There was a blonde woman one time going through the dumpster of my apartment building, I was taking out my trash and asked her what she was doing (she was in the dumpster) and said, “I have to find my stuff, I’m looking for my stuff”.
I guess a collection of stuff is simply a collection of stuff, we want to do it. There are stories of big huge piles of bones, worn white from the weather, that someone had dragged across the desert to pile up for reasons unknown and to be found and thought about years and years later. We do it, animals do it too, there can’t be a real reason but I’ll bet it is tied to survival somehow.
Absolutely.
But I wouldn’t expect someone who calls people stupid for wanting player housing to understand collections.
I don’t have this problem. You’re all a bunch of hoarders.
