Why are we calling it the war within

I took a vacation week. I’m only on here at work

I’m surprised this bait thread isn’t 404’d :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Woah big change

War within isn’t faction war.

It’s the war within azeroth. Or I’m guessing a double meaning with anduin’s inner BS again.

Acceptable

War Within = internal conflict.
This would include characters like Anduin and Alleria as well as, probably, Azeroth herself.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

Legion < - > The Burning Crusade
Battle for Azeroth < - > Vanilla WoW
Shadowlands < - > Wrath of the Lich King
Dragonflight < - > Cataclysm
War Within < - > Mists of Pandaria

… but wait, the War Within isn’t taking place in Pandaria?!

Think of the Mists of Pandaria cinematic, where it starts off with the Horde and Alliance fighting each other onto an unknown island where a bigger threat is among them.
And what does the Orc and Human fighting do? They hand each other a weapon.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” is a theme in Mists of Pandaria and probably will be in War Within.

When you have to think of 3 expansions worth of titles in a short time frame, it’s kind of hard to be creative.

they are calling it ‘the war with in’ b/c warframe already did it so blizzard, ofc, has to rip it off since they are incapable of thinking up new ideas.

A story where the inner struggles of the two factions, the inner doubts of the leaders, set with the bigger war over Azeroth’s world soul would be a great story! Parallels in the big and small would be a standard vehicle for exploring those themes.

It’s a level of writing beyond what the current team has showed any interesting in telling players diegetically, however.

You must have a public World of Warcraft Classic forum profile to continue the import process

You’re the one complaining on the forums, making a whole thread for it and so scared you posted on a classic alt?
PS you’re reaching really hard on my name. So desperate for a comeback huh?

How about World of Waiting?

Naw… war doesn’t have to mean horde vs. alliance.

Instead we will get an epic scene with a random character crying about their feelings

I haven’t read the thread but this is so obvious that someone has probably said it: the name has a double meaning. Ostensibly it’s going to be partly about the inner struggles of the characters involved, plus we’re going to be spending more time underground. This is easier to figure out from the features trailer.

And then you see a bunch of subterranean environments including some that look like they’re inspired by things like Agartha which I don’t know if it’s from mythology but it’s like mythology-adjacent at the very least (from what I understand it’s more of an occultist type of thing).

If you’ve ever played The Secret World (an MMORPG about conspiracy theories and the occult, although it rebranded as The Secret World Legends and idk how it’s different now but apparently everyone hated the new version), the main RPG town of that game was called Agartha and that’s basically what Hallowfall looks like. You probably watch that video and think it’s an outdoor zone but I’m pretty sure it’s actually going to be underground (not sure if this is a bold prediction or something I learned from Blizzcon coverage and just forgot)

And then at the end the narrator (who I’m pretty sure is Xal’atath but idk) says this while the camera is on Alleria Windrunner, who appears to have some type of sharp headache between the part where Xal’atath says “upon the edge” and the part where she says “of a knife”

So obviously it’s not just about feelings, it’s about going underground and probably finding Azeroth’s version of Agartha or whatever and uncovering mysteries and whatnot

edit: Hallowfall doesn’t really look like The Secret World’s Agartha but it’s still kind of reminiscent of it in my opinion

edit 2: actually as the next poster mentioned, the narrator is likely Alleria; I just thought she sounded cool and therefore had to be Xal’atath

That was Alleria talking not Xal’atath who is going to be her rival.

Xal’atath has a Moon Symbol on her face(not to mention Il’gynoth’s speeches of a Blind Queen I.E. the Earthmother) so she is either Mu’sha(if Azshara isn’t Mu’sha seeking to return to the Earthmother’s Body alongside Yogg-Saron the Soul of the Earthmother) or An’she(in which case the Tauren were primitive enough to forget that there were 2 Moons chasing each other with the Sun being an unrelated ball of Fire).

If Xal’atath turns out to be An’she, Azshara to be Mu’sha and Yogg-Saron the Soul of the Earthmother then we will(following Il’gynoth’s prophecies) face all evil 3 faces of the God of Death Mortis the Earthmother of Night one by one with the death of the 3rd Face ushering in the arrival of Umbrae the Raven God of Midnight and his many Faces. The 4th Face Lo’sho the Tear of Elune will be the one Good Face of the Earthmother.

Weak bait OP, nonetheless…

Maw naw!

Within Azeroth and within Anduin’s damaged psyche, and by extension, the rest of us.

So say we all.

This is the way.

Fear is the mind-killer.

Deflecting. You’re confirmed upset, and I have no idea why. Fr you care that much about defending yourself on the internet? All power to you bro. Hope your day gets a little better buttercup.

Get a sense of humor and realize this thread was meant to be lighthearted but yet here we go….

But but but…. Sniffles…… your name……sniffles.

Well, there will be a war between the Horde/Alliance combined forces and the Aqir at the lowest level of the release zones.
