Honestly they should’ve kept the race as blue berries. 
If you remove all the void appeal from the void elves, what difference is there to tell them apart from the Blood elves? They’re meant to be distinguishable.
As for Alleria, she’s classified as a ‘Void Elf’ but was created in a different way to the rest of the playable race. So is ‘exactly against the lore’ – For instance, if I said: "Well Malfurion can change from a bear, to a storm-crow so Tyrande and Night Elf warriors transforming to bears & flight forms is not exactly against the lore." – You’d see at how that’s different case and a strange hyperbole comparison to make.
