Why Are There No Female Prisons in Azeroth?

I’ve been exploring Azeroth for years, and something struck me recently: where are the female (body 2) prisons?

We’ve got plenty of dungeons and strongholds full of male (body 1) prisoners—Stormwind Stockade, Tol Barad, Blackrock Depths, etc.—but you rarely, if ever, see incarcerated female NPCs. You’ll find female mobs in the wild or as spellcasters in cults, but when it comes to prison cells, it’s an overwhelmingly male population.

This isn’t a complaint, just an observation. It makes me wonder how the lore and worldbuilding handled crime and punishment across genders. Do women just not commit crimes in Azeroth? Are they held somewhere else off-screen? Or is this just one of those world design oversights from the early days?

Curious what others think. Anyone ever notice this?

The use of feminine wiles in Azeroth is more powerful than any casting of Blizzard. They can get out of anything!

There are multiple female prisoners in Blackrock Depths. “Slaves” perhaps as some of the models are named…

Maybe just because they’re split up … and we never get inside the female (body type 2) ones - there is actually one more prison-like structure with a similar entrance in SW.

there are female prisoners in BRD :expressionless:

Why did you stop reading? Body 2 is the official term for that gender in WoW now.

The criminal justice is eeo. all are equal. no need for female only prisons, criminal scum is criminal scum.

Now…there are female run prisons. Era has not seen them is all. its a warden black site, in the broken isles not seen yet. It won’t be seen till legion as I recall (not sure if referenced before that).

I think we’re meant to understand that there are things which exist in Azeroth but are not depicted in-game. There may be an all-female wing in Stocks that we don’t get to see, for example. Probably the Scarlet Crusade has some sketchy covenant somewhere.

If you look at the game world too literally, it doesn’t really make sense. The big cities are actually quite small, and there is very little housing. Most of the buildings don’t have doors. Many don’t actually have insides. Those are just conceits that have to be accepted, and you can fill in the rest with your imagination.

Or not, whatever.

Not originally and its dumb because its corporate blizzard activision trying to pander for feel good points that only serve to derank them in the eyes of gamers.

Its one of those choices they made that no matter what they do now there is no coming back from it; they’re caught now in their own catch 22.

They most probably are in that other prison-like structure in Stormwind, I suppose

And as we’re sent out to get a male scoundrel, not being sent to the female prison makes totally sense.

Sorry but #nochanges

One time I’ll agree with Eyr :expressionless:
