Why are the all the world quests useless now?

I loved BFA’s gearing system. It made it worthwhile to go out and do world quests all expansion long. Made it worthwhile to do raids as well for the same reason.

That was Legion. BFA and Sl they reined those in.

They give rep (barely any) once, so doing them on alts is pointless and they don’t always reset for rep when they pop at the end of the week.

Also many have taken far longer than 2-5 minutes with no mobs or objective items available and very slow respawns.

I already quit bothering last week other than as the OP stated - to unlock the special quest a couple of times a week.

And as an fyi for something I just learned - the pet battle WQ can be done stupid easy and fast with basic level 1 pets, so I started doing those to unlock the special quest as there are no issues with limited mobs / items and crappy respawn rates.

i didnt like the azerite grind so much, but it was definitely MUCH nicer to go gear alts up in BFA to a half decent level.
I wanted upgradeable gear, but that 8/8 crap in DF and now TWW was NOT what I had in mind. lol.
Literally wasted currency upgrading and then 3 minutes later you get a new piece that just tossed all the currency right down the toilet.
Im not wasting the time and currency this time around. Whatever drops, thats what Im using, as is.

They should have made it limitless upgrades up to the current ilvl maximum so we actually felt INVESTED in our gear.
This 8/8 crap feels like Im dumping money into a 17 year old piece of crap car thats gonna explode the second I get the last payment made.

I’m doing WQs for easy things to nuke for Enchanting! WIN! (have you SEEN the price of Dust on the AH? If you don’t have at least 1M g on your account atm, you’re doing something wrong)

I’m doing WQs for rep (which is the new “goal” in modern WoW). WIN!

I’m doing WQs for gear. If your alt doesn’t need that gear (eg: you already out-gear it) … uh… good for you?! lol It all SCALES ANYWAY so, if you really want to see through the facade of it all, YOUR GEAR DOESN’T REALLY MATTER when doing world content.

I’m doing WQs to level up my alts. Same as in DF, there are a great number of quests that don’t even require combat and net you a decent amount of gold, xp, rep, supplies, etc. I have four chrs spanning the 72-78 level range, and NOT ONE of them has ever entered combat. Thanks, WQs!!!

In summary, just another insipid, nonsensical thread here on GD. Carry on!

Nope. It was BFA - in fact in BFA they expanded the system so you could get titan forged up to mythic raid quality.

Yep, that was the dilemma with Shadowlands as well. They made them faster in DF and people did them. Crazy how it works.

And there’s nothing wrong with that. If the opportunity costs of WQs are low, people will obviously not do them. I expect the same of almost every other type of content.
Nobody wants to farm 1500 worth of blood either, but the reward is pretty. its juts how it goes.

They are a blessing for devs though. Begging for less content at every turn essentially.

“I don’t want all these quests! Cut them down to bi-weeklies instead!”

“I don’t want all of these rewards. Make them bi-weekly and also useless so I don’t feel like I need to do them.”

“Take things out of the game for other people because less for them is more for me.”

On the contrary, doing them on your main is pointless. If you’re doing them for the rep, might as well run them on the alt and get the free xp.

That is exactly correct - convenient how they decide to do certain things.

Ah awesome, thank ye!

Reputation is a pretty good reason to do them.

WQ aren’t supposed to give you good gear, just something to replace your leveling gear. If you want actual gear, you’re gonna have to do delves or dungeons.

I wish they would take some more risk with quest types. I would step on someone else’s children to get to a WQ that rewarded a big bag of herbs or a profession recipe. Up the ante, make them limited time, like 5-10 minutes and if you weren’t there, you were certified square.

This isn’t true.

There’s LFR, normal, heroic, and mythic raiding and world bosses. You can also get 480+ gear from renown (and maybe other ways I don’t know about, such as crafting).

M0, and M+

Delves

And 2’s, 3’s, RSS, RBGB, (and technically) RBGs for rated PVP.

All of this offers gear beyond normal/heroic/WQ gear (also killing rares drops higher than heroic dungeon gear sometimes, and I imagine heroic vaults gives better than H dungeon gear). Which, if you aren’t doing harder content where gear is needed, you melt world quest content in Heroic dungeon gear, so you don’t need gear outside of queued content gear except for vanity purposes if you don’t play end-game content, but there’s a ton of ways to get gear in this game.

that is archaic thinking - they changed that years ago

WQ haven’t been for the rewards for ages.

Legion, BFA and SL? I did them for emessaries and callings
DF? I did them for raw gold.
TWW? Renown, the few that might be up for kej, special assignments and weeklies. For now, the occasional uncollected transmog too.

But 9 times out of 10, especially once the season gets going, the actual gear they offer is worthless.

But people claimed they were FORCED to do them for the rewards in BFA and SL and if they missed out a day they were behind.
