With shadowlands releasing Monday I found this on wowhead:
The comments are full of players angry for the strangest reasons. The faster you hit 60 the faster you can gear your toons, professions, etc. Not everyone wants to spend a week leveling.

man ill have to get the shadowlands handynotes add-ons lol
but man that was fast not bad.
and raised money for charities not bad…not bad at all
A quick look through General Discussion will demonstrate that there are a number of vocal people playing WoW who despise anybody who gets things done in the game faster or more efficiently than they do.
i know look at them blocking the quest/items with their mounts
Because they don’t play the game the way the angry people want them to.
Why would anyone be mad at speed leveling?
They tried to slow him down by blocking the quest npcs?
no idea why anyone would be upset.
Though we had a guy in guild that poopsocked to max level in BFA while a few of us took about 10 hours longer so he quit because we were not serious enough
realm first or world first achievements
if they are still a thing
no i am responding to brewa saying anyone hates speed lvles they try to slow them down
I don’t see any anger in those comments. All I see is people expressing their opinion.
People look at reports like that one and for whatever reason think that hitting level cap will be that quick for everyone. They fail to comprehend the simple fact that the ones who do level that fast spend a lot of time researching leveling paths and identifying the fastest route possible. Often through trial and error… and typically these routes rely on some gimmicks that not everyone has access to, and luck can also play a key part in things as well. People act like “if one guy can do it, everyone can” when it’s not true. Additionally, that article is a bit misleading… they make it out to be leveling 1-60 as 5hours… when if you actually read the Twitter post from the guy, that time is just for 50-60… and again, he’s put in a lot of time researching his leveling path.
That’s just it: no one is angry in any of those comments. They expressed an opinion, but I saw no one flipping out at anyone.
The title and OP are very misleading.
Im surprised he gets any enjoyment out of it…was he paid to do it?
speedrunning is another form of entertainment. Sometimes fun to watch (san andreas 100%) and sometimes not (Vice city any percent) but if there is potential for competition, there will be people that compete
I don’t care for them, but i have a friend who used to be in a hardcore guild and when the expansion launched he was stressed because he was expected to lvl as fast as possible
Speed leveling is awesome.
1 to 120 was really bad as well I’m surprised this leveling nerf (squish) did not happen sooner.
People have been dosing themselves with righteous rage steadily via twitter, facebook, msnbc, fox, and cnn for about 5 years now.
At this point, I don’t think people know how to engage with stuff positively that doesn’t align with their bubble.
Streamers that do things like this, inevitably end up getting things nerfed for everyone else. That’s how relics got nerfed into the ground, and it’s how leveling speeds might get nerfed.
Indeed. Similar to how the people who don’t raid look at the first guild in the world to kill a boss and then declare “WELL THAT WAS FAST NOW THIS TIER IS OVER”.
