There’s something to be said about how CC’s have to follow the trends to get views, but I always hate it when people say this crap as a line of defense acting like anything Blizzard (or any company) tries to show off isn’t done in the best possible way to make it seem as great as possible in an effort to drive hype and preorders.
They’re not going to announce delves as an afterthought they slapped together or admit they didn’t try hard with dungeons, or the story. Marketing always markets.
It is important for consumers to be opinionated and inquisitive if they don’t want to just get taken for a ride, less you are fine with claiming we can’t judge their product until after we’ve forked over $70 or more and a few months of gametime into it…because that’s a really smart way to go about spending your money.
Thankfully the 3-4 people I watch regularly aren’t super negative about their thoughts, otherwise I wouldn’t bother watching them. They provide info when available and their thoughts which tend to be pretty middle of the road or excited to a little concerning, but nothing like hate. I am content with the info provided from them and don’t look elsewhere. /shrug
Because creators need click baits. Preach did this awhile back in Shadowlands. Made a whole video saying “I’m done with WoW”
But makes a video the moment Dragonflight is announced and praises it as the greatest thing since sliced bread. These people need to have a cease and desist on them.
People can change their minds lol. This black and white thinking that so many die hard WoW fans is just silly.
The people that white knight for WoW on these forums all day like it is their job can’t accept any negative criticism about the game and can never have an objective view on anything related to the game.
People can hold negative opinions on certain aspects of the game and still like the IP or other aspects of the game.
This dogmatic view that CCs are evil or dumb because they make negative videos is just you letting your tribalism get in the way of having a rational view on things.
Communities that can’t entertain negative opinions or criticisms is how we get bad games.
I’m going to play what I like, because I know “meta” will always (ALWAYS) be a thing that Blizz can do nothing about, save, like quicksilver, just push it around the dish. But that only really affects top tier content. And I don’t do top tier content. So, that never impacts me.
I’ll go with pretty colors, flashing lights, and dropping demons on mobs heads.
He also heavily criticized them when they talked about what they felt like made a good RPG. It was like an hour long video where he basically just blasted them and told them at one point saying, “Blizzard please I beg of you go play some RPGs because they don’t do what you think they do”
Preach is about as unbiased as it gets if you ask me; critical when he needs to be and praises when it’s deserved. He wants WoW to be as good as can be because he played WoW so heavily for a lot of his life he is genuinely invested in the game’s health.
People seem to confuse changing opinions/views or having various thoughts as inherently making someone insincere.
By the way if all you do is listen to a source that always claims WoW is good or bad…then congrats you found yourself an echo chamber that aligns with your view to cling to.
It is because many people on these forums are completely addicted to the game, and any changes that could upend their time in the game would be a threat.
Retail WoW to me has very limited appeal now outside the target demographic that Blizzard has been aiming for, mainly people that only want to play 1 game for all their gaming time.
It is 2024 now, trying to design the game to force you to play this game 24/7 just isn’t going to fly anymore.
People always dog on raid logging, but playing 4-6 hours per week is pretty normal play time for many gamers.
Blizzard has been adding more and more boring systems to the game with the sole intent to extract more play time from players.
Not because I don’t like the guy or anything, I don’t know anything about him other than his derpy face in his thumbnails.
But because the last time I actually click on two or three of his videos, my Youtube feed was absolutely FILLED with literally nothing but “Asmon reacts to insert random thing” videos for like a week before I finally got the algorithm to adjust.
It wasn’t made by personal choice they did it for clicks. How do you go from “oh I really dislike the way wow is going and I will stop making content, tired of Blizzard” during Shadowlands and then go “oh my god yes queen Alexstrasza! Dragonflight is amazing!!!”
Quitting on making content for wow because you dislike Blizzards direction is fine go ahead, but doing it purposely for clicks is scummy business.
Content creator is a funny euphemism for a gamer who just rambles, mumbles and takes 20 minutes to make a coherent statement that could be reduced to a single sentence.
I don’t eat food, I process it. Therefore I am a food processor. Watch me process this entire pizza. Tune in tomorrow morning, after coffee, when I’m finished processing.
For views, since there’s not much WoW news right now.
That said, so far War Within does look like a big wet meh to me. Not saying it’s a failure and I’m not saying it won’t be fun, I bet it will be, it’s WoW, but I’ve seen nothing to get excited for yet.
Preach’s WoW content has drasically shrunk as he covers more games and other things.
He probably did say he was done with shadowlands and Blizzard for the time being, but he’s also been clear he’ll come back and check things out, and give opinions from time to time, which is basically what he does. He’s still not, and may never be, a full time WoW content creator anymore.
