Why Are Shadowlands WQs So... Laborious?

Whatever happened to the old style of WQ from Legion and BfA where they were just like regular Quests but World?

Shadowlands WQs feel like 3 to 5 regular Quests in one.

I have never had a world quest take more than like 10 minutes.
Feels about the same from the beginning of BFA and Legion

Just because you’re the Legendary Maw Walker doesn’t mean you’re exempt from menial labor.

Get to work, “aspirant!”

I don’t know. I don’t think they’re particularly worse than the old ones.

I’m still expecting to see one of the fairy WQs be about WOONS on turtles.

Definitely not.

Legion and BfA had a bunch of simple quests like “kill this one strong elite” or “solve this puzzle”.

Shadowlands WQs have layers upon layers.

Like a WQ I did yesterday in Bastion. “Kill mobs until you fill a bar, than activate a robot, than get on the robot and press a button, then kill an elite”.

I think it’s because they don’t want you to feel compelled to run them all like in BFA. During that xpac I was farming rep to get to exalted so I would spend more time going from place to place, then spend 5 minutes shooting crows, to run to the next WQ.
They lowered the rewards for WQ this time around, but also lowered the “required level” for rep to get things that effect player power. Outside WQ’s that seem like you’d enjoy them or really WANT the reward, you shouldn’t do them.

So they can make the rewards better.

Yesterday I did a WQ that was clicking a couple of buttons at the right time. It seems they vary. Some are SO long and boring. Like the one I also did where you had to kill enemies next to the bell…

I don’t have any problems with the world quests themselves.

What I do have problems with is the 5 minute flight path from zone to zone, followed by running to the world quest on foot, doing the world quest, running back to the nearest flight master, repeat.

I just can’t be bothered to do world quests anymore. The time I’m spending traveling between points is just ridiculous.

There’s no reason flight master’s whistle shouldn’t be working and there’s no reason the flight paths between zones need to take forever other than to waste your time, much like no mounting in the Maw.

Yeah and that entire process takes about 10 minutes.
People have been complaining about world quests being boring ever since they were introduced.

I’m just glad they’re changing it up a bit.
Some of them play out like mini campaigns.
I even like the weird ones like the flappy bird clone.
After a decade of “kill 20 x”, they’re finally doing some weird stuff.
But I’m kind of down with it

Which is about 10 times more than a Legion or BfA WQ.

Unless you’re REALLY bad at “Like the Wind” lol

The rewards for Shadowlands WQs are anywhere from 66.6 to 100 percent better than in BfA. On average, I find they take about that much longer to complete. /shrug

There is also less and the frequency they spawn is 1-2 per zone every few hours and not a full reset every 12

And all of that for 70 anima…

Gee, thanks…

Many find it frustrating. But I enjoy the flappy bird like quests in Bastion cuz they are different lol.

That’s one of the good ones.

I just miss the “Kill one big guy” or “solve this one puzzle” WQs, they were fast and fun. Now that they are nowhere to be seen, the whole process feels so sluggish and boring.

Fast things are good! Look at Sonic the Hedgehog!

I do wish the rewards would be a little better. Bit of a bummer to see my intro level 60 crafted gear is at a higher ilevel than the WQ rewards.
