Why are seasons so long?

It’s OK to stop playing when you get bored and come back later.

No doubt, but a season that lasts as long as a patch is just too long.

Well, they can’t make everyone happy.

I’m honestly surprised that some people would rather have a patch long season instead of a reset every 3 months or so.

I’ve never understood why people would want less content but you’re right…you can’t please everyone

People are different and like different things. It’s a relatively easy concept to understand.

Some people have a lot of time to play and some people don’t. Some people are still progressing for AOTC and some people knocked out cutting edge weeks ago.

I’m going to guess that more people are still progressing on current content than aren’t though. I could be wrong.

I suppose people who want every elite set that’s available would want more time.

I just find it funny that people feel the need to get every single one and feel cheated if they don’t.

It’s kind of an OCD mentality tbh

It’s both of these.

How would they develop content fast enough for that?

Seems like all they’d have to do is come up with one elite set and a mount each season.

The rest is just recycling old dungeons and balancing

That requires a lot of testing. There’s already a lot of bugs and overseen complications even with the time that we do have, let alone 1-2 months worth of testing.

Crazy idea, but maybe it takes longer than 2-3 months to design seasonal content.

FF14 has shorter “seasons” (patch dates), and the content that comes with each one barely lasts a handful of hours.

What are they creating other than a mount, a set of armor and balancing old dungeons that already exist?

PoE already does this. Go play that when WoW gets stale (probably where your friends are right now).

There are other players besides you and your buddies who are fine with longer seasons.

Raids? Class reworks/balancing? Gear? Zones? Quests?

If you’re the expert, show them how its done.

I’ve put in hundreds of poe2 hours already :joy:

Takin a break since I’ve already played through the campaign multiple times

S1 is extra long because of the anniversary event

You should make buddies that don’t then.

6 month seasons are the standard for WoW and honestly if anything they are too short.

It’s been 4 months bro. It’s objectively not extra long.

You’re right, my 15+ year wow veteran buddies are the problem for smashing content too quickly :joy:

It’s a balance. The most important thing for Bliz is delivering new content at the slowest allowable rate - they need to keep us paying & development is very expensive. Too long between seasons = too much loss of revenue. Seasons too short = too expensive in development costs. After years of monitoring our spending habits, they know to the minute exactly how long we will keep paying. Don’t think for a second there are any other reasons for the pace to be what it is.

They aren’t the problem at all. But neither is season length. Breaks are healthy.
