The gymnastics done to make yourself seem not jealous is ridiculous.
I got both because 1.5-1.75mil gold (the cost of 7 tokens in the AH) is ridiculously easy to farm just casually over the course of like a week just doing basic herb and ore power farming (either current or old content with a little research) and gold reward world & Weekly quests (Current and old).
Probably not that as much as they spent 600 bucks on the first bruto and now looking at the improved model for a lot less.
who needs to eat when you can have a mobile AH ? lol
Hence why the mount is… wait for it… GASP
Optional.
Blizzard doesn’t have a gun to your head and forcing you to buy it.
People like you are what’s wrong with the world today.
did you get it?
You mean the auction house mount?
If so yes I bought it for this account and my main bnet account
Which means Blizzard got $ 140 USD indirectly from you as opposed to $90 USD. Whereas the original mount they might have gotten $0 USD or $ 15 USD if you want to include the sub fee for that month.
I spent $0 of IRL cash on the mount, because again I had 1.75mil gold already available to just grab 7 tokens from the AH since again getting gold even casually is ridiculously easy and takes almost no time just by playing the game.
Not sure, where you got confused about the way tokens works (the people selling the tokens in-game spent IRL money, not the ones buying tokens in-game).
Tokens are bought and sold regularly before the mount was a thing and will continue to be bought and sold long after the folks complaining about the mount have long forgotten this silly argument.
I kept looking at that post you responded to over and over trying to figure out what in the world they were trying to say LOL the math just didn’t seem right
Exactly - for this mount Blizzard directly makes money for each mount sold - whereas previous mount they didn’t because it worth 5 million gold in game - not $90 USD or 6 or 7 Tokens.
Blizzard created a product which would see demand for tokens spike - which would lead more people to purchase tokens for gold sale seeing this an opportunity.
When corporations which are motived by greed do something which seem overtly greedy it will rub some people the wrong way and they’ll complain about it. This mount is a cash grab - and everyone knows it… some people have a problem with it - others don’t.
I just outlined the facts of what blizzard got in revenue from your purchase decision.
I think a lot of us are looking at the reality that this IS a corporation who is answering to parent companies about profit margins.
Bliz has laid off a lot of people already…what do you figure the next step is if they ARENT showing acceptable profits to that parent company knowing about all those previous layoffs?
“greed” is just part of this kind of set up where your income isnt just your own personal business, but you answer to someone else about it.
Entirely correct.
Not sure what this means exactly, or why this is even here. What precisely is the opportunity?
Greed. Did you mean profit? As in provide goods or services for sale and realize a profit from those sales?
Okay. It’s a perception thing, I guess.
Is it though?
For sure. Each mount you see out there came from a cash shop purchase one way or the other.
You can also buy it with gold, i think most people bought it, i think around 1.2 mill
Gold via tokens - which were purchased with real world money. Not your money - but someone’s money - which makes Blizzard more money.
I bought the mount.
The main reason I bought it is because my bag gets full frequently when harvesting or looting enemies with items I can sell on the AH.
I’m pretty bad at managing my bag space, so this will help me tremendously, and I think it is a good investment for the rest of my WoW life.
People thought the same about the yak - then they removed reforging from the game.
I farmed the Bloodfin fish and the flame sacs and darkmoon firewater to get the mount using wow tokens. So you can farm it up and Blizzard gave you the means to farm it up making things more valuable during the felcycle puzzle.
