Why are people so against simplifying World of Warcraft?

Nice but I’m not asking for ability names, I’m asking for where the line in the sand is drawn between “Enough” and “Too many” abilities.

You’re saying that 50 abilities overall would be “too many”, and 30-35 abilities in active combat would be “too many”.

So my question to you isn’t what are these ability names, but rather, would 29 abilities in active combat, and 49 abilities overall be the magic number?

Doesn’t have to be one way or the other. We can have complex classes. The main reason why I like arcane so much right now is because of how convoluted it is. There’s lots of specs. There can be varying degrees of complexity between them.

I guess because some people enjoy having 3-4 rows of bars so they can claim how good they are at pressing those buttons.

Honestly I don’t like the ability bloat of some of the classes. But really I wish they would allow us to make more lucrative macros.

Like for example if ability a is on cool down ignore that ability and use ability b. This would make life so much easier.

It might already exist but not that I’m aware of without a wait timer

Imagine openly admitting to being bad enough to need this macro.

You never would have survived in the wrath era of the game :joy:

The players from 20 years ago arent any good today… the game plays more like an action moba or diablo than a standard tab target MMO.

Isn’t copying macros and WA off the web/discord and putting stuff into a single keybind already doing that? Regardless of the underlying complexity?

Less, more meaningful, buttons is more along the lines of it…which is more accessible at the same time for people who aren’t going to macro, who aren’t going to bind gaming mouse buttons and so on. I can play at a near-viable level with destro lock in under 15 buttons total. I essentially quit playing Boomkin due to the dot maintenance on top of the eclipse mechanics on top of the, on top of the…went a little too far for me and I spent more time looking at my keboard and the toolbar than what was going on in-game.

Ergo not fun

There would have to be specs changed. And/or new classes.

I really do think that Evoker may have been, at least partially, an attempt at this.

Wrath was super easy - you can logon right now. You can press 3-4 buttons on retail for the reaction time you need to be a world first raider on wrath.

You don’t say, oddly enough I have server first 0 lights in the darkness as well as downing hard mode arch’s.

It’s not bad to what’s a hockey like this, it’s called optimizing

No, you missed my point with that statement entirely. I’m saying we shouldn’t have everything dumbed down so the slowest, most brain-dead of players can do as well as everybody else. If people want to use resources to help streamline their play or suggest which buttons to press, I couldn’t care less.

Meanwhile, I made Balance Druid my main class/spec this expansion. Absolutely loving it.

Different strokes for different folks…

Then they dumbed it down for classic.

You use to have to have expose armor bound on rogue for example.

The fights were overall easier in the early stages of the game. The current rotations are simpler now for the most part.

Like I said 95 keybinds on rogue in Cata

No, no they didn’t. Classic was a much, much slower game. There isnt a single class that is complex or difficult to play. I love classic. You can go watch videos. Half the difficulty was bad internet connections.

You are missing the point of this all. I am not saying get rid of abilities I am saying allow for condensed macro systems. This way if you want to play with 95 keys then ago ahead, if you don’t then set up your macros.

It isn’t like you are winning any trophies either way so what does it matter

I didn’t miss your point. India’s your point was terrible.

Good thing I never mentioned classic.

Not to mention blowing up the old world and allowing flight in the old world.

The more abilities you have, the less each ability will do.

I like all of my abilities. But I dislike them all hitting like wet noodles.

I’m not sure what the solution is.

Wow forums goers are against everything.

Nah man rising sun kick and blackout kick for brewmaster are the same thing.

This is exactly what it is though.

It’s a weird kind of virtue signaling from players that don’t actually do any difficult content, so they can at least pretend they are good players because they want the game to require a MMO mouse.
