Some Paladins know this and seek it!
I rolled Paladin because I want to be the support class.
I want to be the OP healer.
Not every player is focused on the damage they produce and enjoy other roles.
For Paladin, I love the ability to fill any role, while supporting others, and I often switch on a dime depending on how the group is going. Been the saviour many times. In Gnomregan, I tanked it, came out, and then redid it - as a healer!
Paladin is fabulous.
