Why are islands touted as the best source of azerite power by wow?

The PvP ones can be kinda fun, there is just too much variance in ilvl sometimes

You can farm conquest and AP at same time that way too, it gives 50 conquest per win, unlike random BG where it craps out

With good team it’s great way to farm AP and conquest quickly

Lets do some basic math. 5 wins to get the mission = 1500 ap + a 2500 ap mission and a bonus that can’t be 200% any longer, I know because I have a maxed team with +15% chance to win, for another 1500 = 5500 to 6k ap on top of a neck level above 60 that requires 60k ap to level. I’m getting about a level a week so the island weekly is about 10% of that.

since PvP is like Mythic in Island Expos, you can choose your team, since you have to premake it. When I lead one I use my own iLevel as the minimum.

My ilev is 420+ with a level 62 neck and 2 rank 3 essences. I was just turned down for 3 separate lfg groups. Back to rand pug heroics for the poor arcane mage.

mythic Island expos require a higher iLevel than that. At that ilevel, you would be spending a lot of time on the boat as a ghost. ilevel 220? was that a typo?

Generally mythic groups on Island expo require 380 or higher to have survivability.

Also, if your gear only gets you 220 average, if you are on Dalaran server let one of my toons make you some gear, or use the lower Island expos to get dubs to buy Island expo gear (those gear out at 268 each). The gear my crafttoons make are at least 225, with top out so far at 370.

I give those away to my guildmates so they can be better faster. I am not one of those guys who go on raids routinely, because I know I am not that good at it. I am however, one hell of a craft player, because I enjoy MAKING gear.

you want a deep sea bag? why? A hexweave bag has the same amount of space. And you can get a food bag that is two spaces MORE for ironpaw tokens in Pandaria.

There are lots of ways to fix the gear. nobody above 111 should be only at 220.

You can grind a RIDICULOUS amount of AP in islands if you have a good group and spam queue them.

Mythics take like 5-6 minutes per island.

If you’re doing them efficiently there’s zero chance that missions will net you more AP than islands.

addendum :

with the new upgrade to heirloom gear, heirloom gear gets you to ilevel 284 at character level 120.

If you got a main farming manapearls in Naj, you can have that one buy benthic gear for your alts, as long as the main doesn’t open the gear before mailing. a full set of benthic gear, unupgraded gets a toon head, chest, bracers, gloves, shoulders, legs, belt, and feet, 8 pieces of gear, 3 of them azerite gears, for 40 pearls. and that toon can then farm their own pearls to upgrade those gears to 400 each for 160 pearls.

farming azerite isn’t needed if you farm pearls, because you get azerite along the way anyway.

I mean it kind of is the best source, doing Mythic Islands give what 400 ap a win, the weekly gives a HUGE chunk of AP in itself, the treasure map could give even more AP if its an AP mission, and the bonus of that mission could be AP.

Pretty much just doing 3 Mythic Island Expeditions gives a massive amount of AP once a week.

edit: in all seriousness, can anyone explain it to me? I did a few island expeditions and it seemed so pointlessly dull and unrewarding that I never went back.

mythic requires a good premade team. If you yourself are behind the 8-ball and can only do normals, then it’s 6 or 7 normals (assuming you lose 1) then the same weekly and the same follower mission chance.

Looking back at the interviews with ion and his excitement for his introduction to islands and warfronts… lol that guy is so out of his depth in his role.

No not at all, 3 players with Rabbit’s Charms and done in 5-8 mins, don’t kill a single mob.

I enjoy islands. I mean it’s the only place really that you can pretty much pull everything and aoe everything down

I have fun when me and my 2 friends do 3 Mythic’s every reset on our Paladins. 1 Ret (me) 1 Prot and 1 Holy… and nuke em down. So much fun.

Looks like I am going to have to try and start my own mythic group.

do that. Mythic island is not difficult at all. The level is still the same as when it was launch. So we highly outgear the content now

there is an ilevel minimum to get into Mythic though.
