Why am I being forced to PvP?

Except as stated multiple times… they are PvP in name only, so that argument doesn’t hold water. This is the only expac where two professions are basically locked out of making gear without it being super expensive without doing PvP. I understand you like PvP, but honestly blizz should have just put in proper PvP vendors in instead of punishing players.

Dude grow up and stop it with the hyperbole because its not working.

I don’t disagree about vendors. But that doesn’t all of a sudden invalidate that PvP gear still exists. The only difference now is how it visually looks. So at the end of the day, it’s still PvP gear. Doesn’t matter if “gear is gear”. There’s still raid, M+, and PvP gear in the game.

Now if this was for something like the Legendary cloak, I’d be all on your side for it because that’s dumb. But for crafting it makes sense. It gives relevancy and progression to crafting.

I maxed out my leatherworking without PvP.

I understand what you’re saying, and honestly I stand by what I said. There should be an equivalent PvE set if they were going to do this. The PvP gear should take some PvP farmed resource and use less mats IMO. But they didn’t do that. They chose instead to lock all the higher level gear options for two professions behind PvP to upgrade. I’ll agree to disagree, thank you for being civil.

Same reason everyone’s been forced to PvE since the game came out. Get over yourself.

No prob bob.

The legendary cloak quest line that was mandatory to fight PvE bosses, had a mandatory PvP requirement.

Mandatory forced PvP isn’t new.

It isn’t new, but it always sucks.

I know the delineation between “pvp gear” and “pve gear” isn’t quite what it once was, but IMO the fact that ranks 2 and 3 come via pvp marks is what indicates that is what they were designed for. If you want to use this gear for pve, then you’re going to spend a bit more in mats to craft them. However, if you do bgs, Warmode, etc… you are rewarded…showered, really. they aren’t scarce drops…with currency to buy the higher ranks.

Like it or not, pvp is an aspect of the game, if you or others do not wish to engage, that’s your choice but you may lose out on some things by declining to do so.

I miss out on quite a bit by only doing queueable content, but that’s my choice.

In that instance, I’d fight for that to be removed. Personally don’t see a problem with the current system in terms of crafting.

I’m still sore about that instance, Blizzard has a habit of slipping in PvP stuff everywhere, it’s never been so blatantly awful as that cloak quest, thankfully, but they’ve done it before, and enjoy pushing PvP periodically.

Some people simply just don’t like PvP. If you like PvP, more power to you, don’t make me do PvP though, I hate it. T-T

LW is so easy and cheap to lvl now. I picked it up on this alt just for the 415 patterns. Lvl’d it up in under 2 hours for a measly 12k gold worth of mats. If you cant afford that then go farm the mats for free.

you are not forced too, you are given a choice, waste more mats on leather you will outdate.

or you can pvp for the leather you will outdate.

It is a pvp expansion. Don’t do pvp, don’t get the pay off. Simple.

Noone is forcing anyone to do anything.

Just like if you get a job, no one is forcing you to work, but if you want money, you do work. Simple.

I have a feeling your job won’t last long anyways though. I fire all the deadwood that just stand around at my jobs… thinking they should get something for nothing.

OP, here is the answer you’re looking for:

Because Blizzard hates you.

why keep hate a secret?

if i hate someone, i flat out tell em.

So you have 3 stars on all the gear?

Because keeping people wondering is how you keep them hanging onto hope. When they lose all hope, they unsub.

People should be engaging in PVP because they enjoy it, not because it is required to level a profession or get another rank. While you can distinguish between PVE and PVP gear, crafting the dang thing to sell to others should not require PVP. It we were talking special soulbound items you make only for yourself, that might make sense. Yes, you don’t “have to do it” you can just “go without” But why is blizzard gating ranks behind PVP at all?
