- I think people are inclined to be pretty sceptical after BfA. Even if they like some of the proposed stuff in Shadowlands, they now have doubts that Blizz will actually deliver.
- It is a bit light on features. Only one new feature (Covenants), and seemingly several features removed. I personally think this is for the best, long-term, so long as Blizz take this opportunity to improve classes and gearing. But I can understand why some people are disappointed.
- The zones and covenants look amazing, but there’s real concern about the covenant abilities/talents. Will you feel forced into a covenant that is considered to be ‘best’ for a given class? And how complex/layered will it become? Is it going to be Legion artifacts all over again?
- And, speaking personally, although I think the zones and races look amazing, I’m not so taken with the central premise of the xpac (or what seems to be the central premise, because it’s quite early days yet). I’m not sure I’m up for a Sylvanas-centric xpac.
- Again speaking personally, I was not blown away by the introductory cinematic in the same way I was blown away by the BfA cinematic (and, frankly, most introductory cinematics before that). It doesn’t generate excitement and hype. It just feels like a necessary part of the plot leading into Shadowlands.
Obviously not, that doesn’t change expectations for him to do more as the lichking. Blizzard has a theme of ending characters before they do anything and making Bolvar no longer the Lichking was unhelpful in supporting the expansion. Blizzard could have done another way to open the shadowlands and keep Bolvar as the Lichking but they chose this route.
Being “unique and beautiful and amazing” doesn’t make it feel or look like Warcraft. This game could have been released under any other title and still made sense as a fantasy RPG. There is nothing quintessentially Warcraft about what’s been shown of Shadowlands.
That is a common thing to say, I just disagree with it entirely. I think the exact opposite, WoW customers have just burnt themselves out on the game and don’t want to play it any more, yet they still play it. Blizzard has done a plethora of actions to show they listen to the players, and want to fix problems.
I don’t think we could possibly know that at this point. That’s something we’d actually have to see when the expansion is released! Something that you see as a “small feature” could be a massive, in-depth and time consuming activity in the game.
An overhaul of the level numbering, and leveling system is a huge feature to me. That’s not content removed in any way whatsoever.
What? Isnt it obvious at this point in time just by reading literally all the comments on the youtube and forums like you just mentioned you saw???
Its simple: Blizzard pulled a Rian Johnson and angered all the fans of the franchise, they destroyed an iconic Warcraft character thinking the shock factor would make for something good.
Just like in TLJ, it didn’t, it only inspired rage from fans.
Let me know when they put High Elves into the game.
Other than the fact that it’s literally Warcraft, in the world of Warcraft, designed to look like Warcraft, by the people who design Warcraft? People said the same thing about Pandaria, my favorite expansion.
It’s all opinions here so you’re free to have your opinion… I disagree with it though.
They are called blood elves and they belong to the superior faction.
Strictly speaking that’s a system, not a feature.
But I do take your point in general. It is early days, and we don’t know that there aren’t going to be more features introduced.
You’re playing the least played class, with the least played (non-allied) race.
You enjoyed the story of one of the most disliked expansions in the game (MoP, check the trailer like/dislike ratio). So when you say you don’t get it, I totally understand.
Level squish is irrelevant. All that matters is how many hours it takes to reach endgame. They didn’t fix flying at all. There is still the garbage pathfinder system.
It looks like they outsourced most of the art style to a cheap asian studio. It looks like a knockoff WoW clone. Class fantasy was a Blizzard buzzword that they used to justify pruning everyone. No one wants Blizzard class fantasy.
Basically WoW is being developed by a new generation of people with different opinions on game design and politics than the playerbase that was around when WoW was at it’s biggest and most successful. Until they fundementally alter the culture in their development team they will never attract back all the people who left.
Blizzard has truly lost touch with Warcraft. That’s where “all the hate” comes from.
Way to miss the point of my post, not answer my actual questions, and hate on my favorite expansion for no reason other than “pandas r bad because everyone hates asian culture” or something.
Wrong. That’s your opinion. Not mine. Level squish is huge to me, it’s exciting and I can’t wait for it. It’s content for me, and I refuse to believe that it’s not. It’s a massive QOL change that will give me more play time.
Wrong, it’s something they tried to work on after seeing a lot of hate from the community about all the squishing. Focusing on making classes/specs unique was a good change, at least for me. If it wasn’t for you, that’s fine, opinions etc.
That’s hilarious, shut down his claim that “Everyone hated MoP” in about 2 seconds.
Well, he did tell us to check out the trailer’s like/dislike ratio. He might as well tell us to get a bigger shovel for his agrument’s grave.
No I mean this one with nearly 50/50 like/dislikes.
MoP cinematic trailer has the worst like to dislike ratio of all the cinematic trailers.
Read the second top comment. Basically sums up the reaction perfectly. People hated it before they even tried it. They didn’t expect anything good to come of it, yet it’s one of the most liked expansions content wise in wows history. Just because the initial reaction was bad, does not change the fact MoP was a very strong expansion.
Personally I would say it’s my favourite. The legendary questline is probably one of the best questlines we’ve had(RIP). Challenge modes is easily the best 5 man content we’ve ever had - - this is just how I feel personally and mythic +s are certainly good. Raids were amazing and the boss fights were quite unique and fun. It even has some of the hardest raid bosses in wows history.
Even without all of that, MoP is my favourite expansion because the class design. You can have tons of content but with bad class design you’re doomed to fail. MoP had the best class design and good content.
Oh that one with it’s 35K Likes and 31K Dislikes?
I never saw that actually. I’m probally guessing MoP wasn’t too heavy on features either and/or people think the new talent system will ruin everything, on top of people hating pandas and pokemon.
… I’m sorry, what?
How did you missed my link to that video and me siting the amount of likes/dislikes it has??..
People can go back and like something retroactively.
MoP at the time was getting bashed, now people look back fondly.
People on the forums still acted like the sky was falling the entire time. Because that is what they do no matter what is happening.
