Whos your favorite character in Warcraft universe?

“I don’t like any of these people.” Mr. Plinkett.

No, really. I can’t think of a single member of the main cast I like anymore.

I have a new favorite WoW character, and it’s Classic Dornheim.

Taran Zhu is one of the baddest dudes ever.

The ‘grand’ characters of Azeroth, just like the main themes of each expac, have always largely fallen flat for me. (*with a few random exceptions)

For me, the better stories and characters have always been the small questlines or the more random characters you come across while questing or just playing the game.

Ex:

Crusader Bridenbrad (*tribute to a real life brother of a Blizzard exec):

The questline is great, the setting is great and if I go through Northrend on a character, this is the one questline they have to run. Norman’s bank still contains the Signet of Bridenbrad from when I first ran this quest, I guess 12 years ago?

One of my favorite Gnome-related:

Windle and Kinndy Sparkshine:

Windle first shows up in Wrath (2009), in Dalaran. Each night, he would walk around Dalaran turning on the lamps. When he was done, you could buy a lighter from him for a few silver and light up lamps and torches in Dal. He was also the character that sent you the Tabard of the Achiever Tabard, when you’d collected 25 of them.

FFWD to Tides of War (book - 2012) and it’s revealed that Windle is the father to Kinndy Sparkshine, who would become Jaina’s most trusted apprentice and ultimately she would be killed when Garrosh dropped a bomb on Theramore. (Kinndy’s is a good backstory just by itself)

FFWD to Legion (2016) and Windle is now in Legion-Dalaran, again with his sparkle lighter. You can buy the lighter, but it no longer works on the lamps. When you ask him why, he says it’s because it has special meaning to him. So in Legion when he lights the lamps, a little image of Kinndy appears above them.

I was really hoping to find Kinndy somewhere in Shadowlands and trust that I have searched high and low. I’m guessing Blizz didn’t put her in. If Shadowlands ends without her showing up, I’ll pick a random unnamed spirit and use it as personal headcanon that I found her.

If I had to choose a more well-known character? Probably Brann Bronzebeard. Sure, he was a soldier once but this guy just wants to go on an adventure, which is why we’re all here in the first place.

I’m glad he didn’t, given how other appearances have gone.

I like people’s OCs.

This is totally me, it’s usually these minor one off characters I enjoy more than any of the main cast. It’s usually what I look forward to the most when it comes to new content.

Like BfA’s main war campaign story was mostly a stinker for me but I really liked the zone quests, especially Voldun for Horde. That really felt like I was an adventurer in an unknown vast frontier, I helped open an oasis inn with a banana hat wearing weirdo and his cursed ghost friends and took part in a skeleton pirate mutiny.

Even Shadowlands I found stuff I liked, mostly anything with Dredgers and side quests with the skeleton friends in Malalaldraxxus.

I quite litterally had to edit to specify in the prompt that ocs don’t count. Sorry.
That’d be too easy.

Interrogator Vishas

A long time ago back when I was still young and playing in the Snows of Northrend. I got the brilliant idea to consistently get myself stuck at Brill in one of the chimneys. It was a glorious and funny situation. The GMs started to catch onto my shenanigans and I ended up talking with one of the “higher ups”, I can’t recall the term they used, Senior GM I believe is it.

Anyway, I get saved and rescued and I am watching this Human Female just stare at my character and I was giggling hysterically as we chatted. The GM used a couple spells that I do not know their names of. But I was launched in the air a few times.

Well, we started talking about our favorite NPCs and I brought up this lovely lively fellow. One of the few Scarlets to actually make it out of the inferno that became the Scarlet Monestary and Halls. I like to think that my little conversation helped move the Interrogator to the Brawlers Guild.

Ah, it isn’t anything important or special. I found that they gave him just the right amount of creepy pain masochist and sadism which he was renown for back when we could still farm Scarlet Gear.

I hope we find one day that the Banana Man’s island gets revealed and we can rescue them.

I’m pretty fond of Aegwynn; a true sigma female:

Mastered highly advanced magic as an apprentice and later used that lore to bind a powerful arcane entity to a staff

Was a Guardian of Tirisfal for millennia, couldn’t even be forced out

Took absolutely no crap from anyone

Solo’d Sargeras kinda (twice apparently)

Trash talked Dalaran and modern Mage training on numerous occasions.

I can wait and fish all day

Two-way tie between Doodad Door and Captain Placeholder. They never did anyone dirty.

Dadghar is a close second though. Since he is equipped with the awesome power of Dad jokes.
