Oh yeah, mecha dreadlord Jaina will reveal herself as Tiamat in 10.1
Bahamut got one-shotted and got better.
Deathwing got one-shotted and stayed dead.
I know which dragon got my vote!
Really though Iâm partially biased because the Deathwing arc was a giant nonsensical mess very poorly implemented. At least Bahamut has a lot of supporting lore around him that continues to be relevant several expansions later.
Huh? He was a head in a jar.
Yeah, Deathwing was a disaster. Honestly, the âClassic Eraâ WoW team was actually horrible with dealing with legacy characters. Illidan wasnât Illidan, Arthas wasnât Arthas, and Deathwing wasnât Deathwing. Illidan got his redemption arc (redeemed as in his story was told properly), Arthas is presumably getting some lore in Shadowlands to reconcile WC3 Arthas with his mustache-twirling in WOTLK, and so we still need Deathwing to be âfixedâ.
Although Iâm skeptical Blizzard will ever do anything with Deathwing again because heâs kind of âiconicâ at this point as a mindless rage monster, even though that was completely different from who he was (Nefarian was far closer to what Neltharion was like as a character pre-WoW, but since theyâve already done Nef I doubt theyâll make him act like his original self).
At this point, the best approach is probably to just do Galakrond the way Deathwing should have been handled. Time will tell what they do though.
Oh come on. Way to make Deathwing equivalent of a toenail.
When I first seen this threat title all I thought is which Bahamut are we talking about anyways? Bahamut zero level for FF7? (summon sequence has it flying through space) Or Dark Aeon levels?
As for Deathwing, he did manage to tear up Azeroth. I see some people poking fun he never did much.
I love them both. I can love both.
Oh yeah, absolutely!
Wing span and destruction capabilities aside, both of them are immensely powerful! The differences come in how they have been presented to the audience in the narrative.
With Deathwing the narrative was going âforwardâ where we got to see him from his early days to his end while with Bahamut in 14 itâs the other way around - we see him destroy the world and then get defeated but then we learn more and more about him throughout multiple expansions and the sheer scale of his ongoing influence over the world.
If I remember correctly, and I might be wrong, there would be more lore on Bahamut and Dragons in general in Endwalker as well, which is a big hype moment!
Bahamunt.
Sargeras could still slice him with his fingerâs nails though.
A head in a jar that was going through the process of being healed back up so he could resume his rampage, which is better than Deathwings being poofed into a billion magic sparkles after he got one shot
Deathwing does not look like he was built to last. Plus Bahamut is a god (sometimes?).
Iâm thinking Bahamut > Deathwing.
The answer, of course, is Urkel.
Theyâre both hot who cares
Bahamut killed the world so hard it rebooted.
Deathwing got stopped by 10 to 25 randos, 4 dragons and a Jolly Green Giant with a magic necklace.
Have you seen the size difference of these two? lol

As for Deathwing, he did manage to tear up Azeroth. I see some people poking fun he never did much.
Thatâs actually a major source of my problem with Deathwing. He causes severe damage to many areas just from waking up. And then he does nothing. Oh sure he flies over Auberdine and the dam, destroying then incidentally, and blows up Stormwind Park. Just the park though.
Then he just flies around randomly, burning random unimportant patches of ground. He goes to Hyjal with the intention of destroying Nordrassil but then goes âlol nah i cbf flying a couple hundred more meters up the hill to hit the tree with one breathe, yo raggy boy you do it for me lol laterzâ
He does nothing of any importance right up until Dragon Soul raid, where he decides to just lol fly around watching the Twilights Hammer do everything, then when all the Dragon Aspects are exposed and vulnerable charging up the one weapon that could harm him âlol hey guys would be a shame if i killed you all now right? Nah i cbf cmon Ultrax make daddy proud and use self destruct on these idiotsâ
Then the Dragon Soul is charged and Thrall lightly grazes Deathwing âAww crapballs Im goin back to bed!â. We give chase, somehow keeping up with Deathwing in a giant airship thatâs generally portrayed as not being much faster than a regular ship, and instead of quickly sniping the giant flimsy highly flammable airship, he just casually keeps cruising along as his armor is peeled off and gets blammed and falls into the Maelstrom. And there in the Maelstrom heâs like âFine, I could have done this anytime before but I guess now that Iâm at deaths door I guess Iâll do that whole worldshaking thing that I did when I woke up again and kill everyone. Ow my toenail guess I gotta start overâ
Overall he did one burst of semi decent collateral damage and then he did absolutely nothing else until it was too late. Awful, awful story.
FFXIVâs version of Bahamut by a landslide, itâs not even close. He has Deathwing in both size and power and since heâs an Elder Primal (basically a god), he can always just enslave Deathwing by tempering him. Bahamut is so powerful the devs actually used him as a lore reason to reboot the game from the failed 1.0 version to the version we play today.
Deathwing, or at least Cataclysmâs take on him, has nothing on FF XIVâs Bahamut. Sure, he can turn into a giant mass of fiery whatever and cast a spell to end the entire world, but Bahamut could make quick work of the entirety of Hydaelyn in a quarter of the time Deathwing took to mess up a few zones here and there.
Well there we have it folks bahamut wins

Didnât the first ffxiv end with him destroying the actual world.
Yup. They set the world on fire. Not just any fire, but the most beautiful fire ever. The Goddess is singing the whole time, the big magic MacGuffin by Elven Gandalf even FAILS to contain him.
Beautiful cinematic.

I think it would be deathwing, only because of his sheer size, and the fact that he has to have his back armor plates weakened in order to be able to be attackable.
It also took multiple dragons to take down, along with a 10 to 25 man raid.
See this is where i disagree bahamut is larger then deathwing and he has something called temperance which is mind control like galakrond. Now if you said galakrond i think he would win due to sheer size
Bahamut is still bigger.
