Anybody who’s been playing this whole time has already accepted the terms that are in the social contract.
I saw nothing outrageous in the contract. It mostly confirms that you be able to login and not behave like a sociopath.

I’ve been extremely un-lash-ey, but if we’re engaging in armchair psychology of people that we don’t know, here’s my 5-cent version!
I suspect that you have a set of expectations surrounding my behavior for reasons that I don’t conform to, and that makes you especially uncomfy that I’m undercutting your perceived authority. I imagine that you’re used to being the most articulate person in a given theoretical room, and when certain people dish as well as you and yet don’t agree with you, it challenges you in certain ways that make you perceive what’s being said as a threat or attack in particular, compared to perhaps other people.
Fortunately, I don’t have to make you comfy! And you’re free to not engage in, as they say, “the discourse”. I’m afraid that I’ve hit the Age of Ascent where I’m not easily baited into being huffy and actual lashing out (instead of imagined) though, so if we’re going to keep going around in circles playing games of Who Can Get Who to Do Something Actionable First, I should let you know,

Social contract was added as another layer of PR to save face due to the lawsuit.
We’ll see if it’s enforced. I have two conflicting thoughts. The first is that it won’t be, the second is that people are going to weaponize it and create a fun system for Blizzard to have to police as a result.
Only time will tell.

If you aren’t being banned, you don’t need to change anything. You’re behaving perfectly within the social contract that is expected of you. Good on you.
You repeatedly calling people who report “mentally deranged” over and over in many posts does not make it true. You agreed not to use profanity, slurs, etc years ago. You should not be shocked you have to follow the rules. Instead I question that some folks thought they would not have consequence for their actions.
No, any Silence, Suspension, or account ban is not automated. A GM reviews the logs attached to the report then looks at the account history. At that point they can issue a penalty.
The only thing automated is a Squelch which is a temp account mute put in place as early as Cata or before. It takes many unique accounts reporting in a short period of time to trigger it. The goal was to stop gold and website spammers (and boosters!). A temp squelch will then be reviewed by a GM and either lifted, or a real penalty applied.
No amount of stating otherwise, changes that.

No. This is purely objective. You are gleefully arguing in favor of limiting people’s ability to express themselves under the pretext that what they say are “offensive, hateful things with slurs and profanity”. The problem with this thinking is that the definitions of these are fluid at best and nebulous at worst. What’s offensive to one person may be perfectly fine to someone else. So this automatically creates an atmosphere of uncertainty where the safest course is simply not to speak at all. And that’s before an inevitable “purity spiral” occurs, and it WILL occur. If you don’t believe me just take a look at these forums.

If I have expectations of your behavior, it’s only because you keep affirming them. I don’t have any particular need for you to be a certain way. I will take your compliments on my being articulate and enjoying a challenge in stride, though I disagree that I feel threatened. I will however offer a compliment of my own in return: You are very tenacious and you definitely stick-to-your-guns. I respect that.
I’m well past the need to be “comfy”. That being said, I’m not a huge fan of things which contribute to a greater sense of discomfort, if that makes any sense? Hopefully it will? And I’m not trying to make you huffy or to lash out. I’m trying to get you to see that there are consequences beyond a few people simply being quiet in game. That’s my goal. Nothing more. I have no interest in getting you suspended from the forums. Why would I? I’m a free speech absolutist. IMHO, anyone being suspended or banned or silenced is a BAD THING.
I’m sure you’ve read the quote, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” Well, that’s my position. And if you’re going to use Captain America memes, I would ask you to think for a minute and ask yourself just who he’d side with. I don’t think it would be with choking off speech in favor of corporate virtue signaling.

So part of the social contract states that people should assist others in the open world defeat a tough monster. So, if I run by and do not offer assistance is that now a reportable offence? Running past not helping goes against the social contract.
