Who Will Not Accept The Social Contract?

Yes – I suggest you go back and review the conversation LOL

Yeah, I really can’t belive that people want a safe space to be a jerk and can’t follow the rules they agree to. I mean, why would someone agree to WoW rules for 17 years, and now get upset? It is mind boggling. You would think they would go play some game that has no consequences for their actions.

Seriously though, you agreed long ago to follow the language rules in WoW. This is not new. If you don’t like it, there are other games.

Note on the filter. Spotlight on: Harassment

Mature Language Filter (aka The Profanity Filter)

  • This can be activated within your Interface Options: Main menu (ESC key by default) Click Interface > Social and check - Mature Language Filter.

  • Once enabled, all inappropriate words in our profanity database will be filtered and masked to appear as jumbled characters, such as ‘*##@&’.

Note: The filter does not excuse the language used. The filter serves as a temporary shield, to help parents of minors and others who do not wish to see it, to block it. Our policies prohibit the use of both clear and masked inappropriate language.

This is true. To prevent this you have to buy the “Goon Protection 3000” on the Blizzard Shop. It’s on sale right now for 19.99, but when the patch comes back up, it’ll go back up to normal price of 69.99.

why would I sign a contract forcing me to be a good person… -_- this shouldn’t scare you unless you are a toxic human. be chill and sign it.

“It doesn’t mean anything anyways, comrade!”

(It really is nothing special, but I can’t pass up these “comrade” opportunities. Blizzard acknowledging the community is of Blizzard’s own actions and consequence is a fantastic realization and took incredible maturity. It won’t be perfect and I hope they have a lot of tolerance and compassion in trying to help people walk toward a “friendlier” way of playing, but it is refreshing and can be seen as a step toward the light in otherwise dark times.)

That is how it is SUPPOSED to work. I am not sure how perfect it is or if they are bugs. This is from the CS harassment article that goes over means to avoid players.

Ignore

  • The ignore feature allows you to add those you do not wish to interact with to a list and you will not see their chat or emotes. You can simply right-click on the player’s name in your chat-box and click ‘Ignore’. You can also use the command; /ignore <Player_Name>

You will also not be grouped with characters that you have ignored in the Looking for Dungeon and Looking for Raid tools.

Cross-Realm Ignore

  • With the introduction of cross-realm instancing, we implemented a method to ignore players from other realms, preventing you from being grouped with them again in the future. To do this, use the following command: /ignore <Player_Name> <Player_Realm>

Note: Ignore is now account wide and when used will ignore all characters on a single account for the character that uses the ignore option.

For example, if you ignore <Player_1> on your main character, if you switch to an alternate character that person will not be ignored for them. So you will still be able to see chat from, and otherwise could be contacted by, <Player_1> on that alternate character. If you wish to ignore <Player_1> on your second character you will have to add them to that character’s ignore list.

Most of us don’t behave in a way that will get you banned… Ill read it, but I don’t feel like It will change anything I do or say.

maybe the lfg tool related stuff will not show you ppl you ignored but if you both apply for an m+ and the leader of that group picks you both you could end up in the same group i’m pretty sure.

And then when you break one of the rules (that were already in place, but now you’ve just agreed to it), they can ban you and you don’t have an out anymore.

I have my popcorn ready for those posts.

They can’t send you the gold if they don’t accept.

It’s not the “forcing me to be a good person” that’s the issue. It’s the possibility it can be misused. Much like Apple had, for a short period of time, wanted to have an AI to scan all images for “illegal content” and the entire internet was upset since the same software can easily be used to scan for, FOR EXAMPLE, LGBT content in countries where it’s illegal to be LGBT.

Based on the loose wording and my experience: I think its only manual if they choose to review it past a squelch/silence.
Account Silenced - Blizzard Support (battle.net)

Overwatch Silence - Blizzard Support (battle.net)

Sounds more like silences are time outs, not reviewed unless further action is required. Either way, I don’t believe every report is reviewed. The costs associated with the hours of manpower needed.

i heard stuff about Uganda relatively recently.

i think they’re stuck in the past a lil bit.

That was just an example, of course. Another example, it’s highly offensive to show bones in Chinese culture. (Big reason why we have Forsaken without bones showing) There’s so many things that could get you in trouble that you don’t even know.

There’s an old saying, it goes, “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. I think it’s pretty good advice in general, especially when an entire extra step is required to type ugly things into a chat window.

If people can’t stop themselves from saying offensive, hateful things with slurs and profanity, yeah, it’s better if they disable their in-game chat tools and don’t talk to anyone. But keep being an outrage machine, cocoabean, sorry that it’s not a great blow to people if they’re not devastated by the lack of your hot takes in Trade Chat

If you were a gnome…you would SO much be in hawt stew right now…

Yes, great advice, so long as someone else is following it and not you. At some point, I would hope that you would self-reflect and actually listen to yourself. You come across as domineering, controlling, mean-spirited, vindictive, and judgemental.

There’s an equally old saying that says “Whenever you point your finger at someone, there are three fingers pointing right back at you.” Your tendency to judge says quite a bit about you. You’ve shown a tendency to project your emotional expectations onto other people’s statements, twisting their intent to produce something you can lash out at.

I am 100% saying yes to it, the community has become toxic as heck. This is the only way they could get things better, and I support blizz / acti on this.

social contract and the new report system are gonna backfire. /yawn good thing i dont like playing wow with others ill avoid everyone

People who want to type profanities in general chat need to toughen up and behave themselves.
